Hacking How to create dvd5 SSBB NTSC-USA with fully playable SS emissary.

my dilemma is not so much that i can't follow instructions.

its just that I am on OS X.
Has anyone figured out how to do this on os x?

Me too, I just had to install windows in parallels cause I couldn't find a trucha like program for os x.

Me too, I just had to install windows in parallels cause I couldn't find a trucha like program for os x.

When you installed parallels, did you need an install disk for windows xp?

You can use an Image file or an actual CD. I think when it asks you for the location, you have to click advanced or other to select an image file.

Just a quick question for PAL users...

To avoid the whole update fiasco should PAL users swap the _update.inf in the DVD9 or do the whole procedure in the DVD5? Before or after, basically ;P

Does anyone have to restart their wii after beating the classic mode? I get an error and have to restart other than that it works

I would like to thank wiifiend for this great... erm... RIP recipe! Yeah, I think it's the first rip for the scene and it's working great. Playing SSBB for almost 2 hours now without a glitch, well just skiping the same cutscene all the time, sometimes twice or 3 times, but that's all about rip, doesn't it?
I think I'm not waiting anymore for the WiiKey team for a fix and gonna archive my SSBB original when it arrives. I'm gonna save my laser not playing dual layer DVDs, unless necessary.

The steps provided appears to work fine for me although I haven't completed classic mode to see if I'm running into the same problem someone else mentioned.

This may help those that want to know if you have a correct image once you completed all the steps:

md5sum a48e89fdccd65bf1f90e141436ebd354

I was going to see if I could create a PPF but when I ran makeppf, it complained about the size of the original compared to the final product.

fix for #001 drivecheck error that happens to some older modchips for ssbb usa dvd5 mod

I seen a few people ask about a fix for the drivecheck #001 error that happens to some older modchips (same error Super Mario Galaxy gives some older modchips), so here it is:

(This fix will only work for this dvd5 mod)

**** If your modchip has the #001 error issue , use this main.dol instead of the one provided in the download link in the first post, this main.dol is for the dvd5 version of ssbb that I show you how to make in the beginning of this thread. (you will still need the rest of the files in the download link in the first post if anyone is wondering) Then follow the rest of the steps as outlined in the first post of this thread.****

Thanks to GJA1 and topic creator I was able to play fine.

One question:

I booted DVD5 then swapped by my DVD9 version (that come with error #001). The game then goes using the DVD9 but the movies continue the same (just like as DVD 5). Why? I guess when we boot DVD5 they load all the 'fake' movie paths from one modified archive of DVD5 an then keeps it. If I create an DVD5 with ONLY the error #001 fix (dont know how...) and boot it wonder if it will use the correct movies paths....

Can someone give me a light???

If one wanted to change the _update.inf with Prophets modified file, should they do this BEFORE scrubbing or AFTER?!

works perfectly!

Subspace Emissary works, but having to watch the first few seconds of the cutscene over and over again just to skip it is kinda getting annoying. I think I might just watch the cutscenes on Youtube. Just played through Classic adventure mode, and it works fine, I haven't tried Online yet, though.

Thanks for the reply! I'm guessing this is the same for modifying the main.dol file too then? ie, changing video modes (NTSC to PAL) and removing error 001?

It looks like the emulated demos games do not work using this method. When I select one it just bumps me back to the wii menu. I wonder if those are on the second layer? Not that I really need to play Ice Climbers again anyway....

im trying to upload this to usenet using powerpost. ive got as far as creating the par files but when i click the yellow play button it gives me a "file not found" error...any help?

Hmm, I get an MD5 of 3d3bc4cca32b7043a8fc90f95625ae4f

It plays fine, but I did get some disc read error screens at one point. Could be due to the burn, might try reburning if the errors persist.
