Hello all and thanks for the thousand plus views!
Here is an update:
I have moved partial joystick functionality onto a Joycon joystick.
Here are some pictures of the testing set-up:
I soldered testing cables to the exposed copper rings on the sticks
The Joycon I am using to harvest a stick from is not first party, and appears to have a higher number of connectors than a real Joycon stick would. effects of this inconsistency are as of yet unknown.
Here is a video clip of using the Joycon stick to control 1 direction so far on the ds from random testing:
Once/if I am able to move total circle-pad functionality onto the Joycon stick, I will need to purchase a stepper bit like this to increase the hole diameter that the joystick pokes out through:
Once that is completed, the Joycon stick will need to be tucked safely into the same space which was previously occupied by the internals of the circle-pad. The connection will go from the Joycon stick to the circle pad cable, then onto the ds board. The circle pad itself will be removed from its cable. soldering directly to the board appears to require micro soldering.
Thanks for the interest, if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.
If for some insane reason you would like to help fund my endeavor, you can do so at ko-fi.com/sh4rdik
Thanks
