I copied snes9xgx to my HDD. which can be found in wiiflow/plugins/SNES/snes9xGX
I can easily open roms through wiiflow and snes9xgx will start.
However after a certain amount of time when i enter the menu from snes9xgx, it will show that there is no connection with the wiimote on the down left corner.
I can still move my cursor around but when i try to click buttons snes9xgx they don't seem to work.
When i install SNES9xgx in apps and open it in hbc it has no problems whatsoever on my hdd.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?
Solved it by installing all the plugins on the sdcard and adjusting all the other directories to usb1 on the wii flow ini file :)

You need the wiiflow hidden channel to return to wfl when exiting a plugin emu. Hopefully someone can help you get it

It is included in the WiiFlow Lite Plugins Pack 2023 Extras download.

Here is the wiiflow channel install...
I'm not sure I ever used this. I've always just set PriiLoader to autoboot to WiiFlow, so it works the same. :unsure:

yes if you are on a Wii and have priiloader installed and configured to autoboot wiiflow, this will work because when the emu tries to launch the hidden channel it will fail and the wii will default to loading the system menu which the very first part will be priiloader.

this does not work on wii u do to no priiloader of course.

Hey guys!

I am running the PCE-CD Source of Wiiflow, right?
It launches my PCE-CD games with the RetroArch Fast Beetle plugin.

So I am actually running RetroArch from the Plugin pack here.

I would love to know how to access the settings of RetroArch from Wiiflow or from the game itsef.
I want to do this in order to make the left analog stick a clone to the D-Pad, because my GameCube's D-Pad feels tiny.

I tried opening Retroarch from within the HomeBrewChannel, and from there load the core and from there modify the controller configuration in the input settings.
I quit RA and the settings saved. I know they saved because I came back later to RA through HBC and my changes were there when I opened a game with the core in question.

YET, when I open content from within Wiiflow, using the RetroArch Fast Beetle, for the PCE-CD input, then my custom mapping for the controller is no longer there.
I am wondering the plugin has a different overriding configuration file. So I wonder whether it is possible to access the configuration settings from within Wiiflow or the game (such as with RA's QuickMenu)

Thank you all, but specially @Tetsuo Shima for keeping me well guided during my hacking journey.

While in WFL, find the game you want to play and launch the game with your GameCube controller...Gate Of Thunder in my case.

When the game loads, turn your Wiimote on by touching any button. Now the Wiimote blue light is lit, unplug your GameCube controller.

Wiimote has taken over as main control, press Home button, scroll to and select Controls, now plug GameCube controller back in and it will take over as main control, now select Port 1 Controls.

Scroll to and select...
Auto: -1 (N/A) = D-Pad Up
Auto: +1 (N/A) = D-Pad Down
Auto: -0 (N/A) = D-Pad Left
Auto: +0 (N/A) = D-Pad Right

With GameCube controller still plugged in press (2 Red) GC button to go back 1 page.
Now select Manage Remap Files.
Now select Save Game Remap File.

You can make this the default core input for all games by selecting...

Load Remap File
Select the game you just changed inputs (Gate Of Thunder in my case)
Now select Save Core Remap File

Done. Resume game and Left Analog and D-Pad should be fully working.

Hey @RunningSnakes !
I only knew you by your boxcover sets, they are pretty good.

This is a swift and concise solution to my question, much obliged!
It is exactly what I needed.

Seriously, you guys in here are living legends,
I am glad I got to meet you and tell you personally:

THANK YOU! YOU RULE!

These mods-hacks are the ULTIMATE form of the WII.
This is living-legacy-software.

My 10yo nephew just realized he is "nostalgic" for his dad's Wii, because he remembers learning to play MarioGalaxy with the motion controllers when he was 3yo, and well... he has a Switch and all, but he is just realizing the value of retro consoles, so I am setting him up for a big surprise when he gets a bit older and fully appreciates "retro".

I reckon when that generation starts modding the Wii in the attic, they will invariably stumble upon you guys, and these threads.

I already got my answer, so I am not showering you with compliments because of ulterior motives, lol
You legit are living legends, I am glad I got to thank you personally!

@popckorn
Thank you for the kind words sir. To be honest, i have no special skills, only motivation to learn, then pass on knowledge to others.

I have followed the Wii mod scene since probably 2008-09 on this very forum. With life/work consuming all my time, i never actually registered/joined to gbatemp.

When fledge took over WiiFlow, making huge improvements, then Wiimpathy adding his expertise and time, there were very few WFL followers at the time. Hakisha & Tetsuo and others i cannot recall their names, maybe 6-8, that were giving fledge input.

This is why i joined the forum. I knew my input could be helpful to the WFL journey. It feels good to be acknowledged, that's why i always give credit where credit is due... @matto21 @cheloruiz79 @Okko @Tetsuo Shima @SaulFabre @Wiimpathy ...

@fledge68 making it possible!

@RunningSnakes Brilliant!

Guys, well, you can read my original post of thankfulness above, no intention to misplace honor, I am barely registered and starting to understand the scene, I am basically starting the conversation with those at the end of this long chain of innovation and ingenuity.

@matto21 @cheloruiz79 @Okko @Tetsuo Shima @SaulFabre @Wiimpathy
I want to wholeheartedly thank you all for this SUPERB collective project!
Its usage feels quite mature, intuitive, and sleek! All bases covered, no stone unturned in the quest for ultimate usability.

I can honestly say it is a pleasure to use all these tools and improvements you guys have built on top of so many others' effort.
Everyone left out, please know I am thankful for all of you, unknown heroes!

@Tetsuo Shima were you able to use snes9xgx/tx/rx without any problems on your toshiba canvio basic? The only way to stop the emulator freezing randomly on the menu is by placing everything on the sdcard (roms+plugin). I tried the plugin on the sdcard and snes roms on the hdd but the problem is still there. I'm guessing snes9xgx doesn't really like hdd :)

Maybe it's a formatting problem or wrong cluster size?
Allocation unit size is 32768 (used fat32format tool) which should be 32k cluster size. I used multiple external hdd without any succes. I tried multiple fresh installs without any luck. For some reason snes9x gx/rx/tx randomly freezes when i enter the menu during gameplay. sometimes it takes about 5m and sometimes even 30m before i can replicate the bug by entering the menu. Either it's a hardware issue or i got really unlucky regarding the firmware/hardware on all of my ext hdd's. To exclude a hardware issue :) i think i really have to try another wii, because you guys seem more lucky regarding compatibility.

Maybe your Wii's USB ports are really bad or they just died, try using another Wii

I just tried another Wii which still had an old homebrew channel, and for some magical reason the ext hdd seems to work perfectly fine :). I guess it's either a hardware issue or i did something wrong while using https://wii.guide on the previous Wii. Is there any cIOS responsible for hdd spindown or anything else usb/homebrew related?
