Hello. I manually deleted some users with Nintendo Network IDs on a Wii U that I bought second-hand and am trying to sell, and if I try to create a new user or link a Nintendo Network ID, I get a blank white screen (no Wii U logo in the corner) on the GamePad and TV. I'm assuming that this is because of the account deletion I did, as the Wii U originally had all accounts locked by NNID password AND parental controls were on so I used UDPIH on an RCM vulnerable Switch to get the parental controls off. Creating a user worked then, but that was also before I installed Tiramisu to it but even if I turn autoboot off in the PayloadLoader, the same thing will happen when I try to create a user.

Any help would be appreciated!

could you dump the syslogs? Maybe there is a hint whats going wrong
Sure, I just dumped them and they can be downloaded using the link in the pic attached. (I can't send it as I'm a new GBATemp member). Something I forgot to mention was that after this problem arised; I tried putting the users back and editing the common.dat file to have all the accounts added back in, but it deleted my one remaining account and instead put one in that didn't have a Mii linked to it, so its username was appearing as "???", its profile picture was a mii silhouette with a "?" in its face and the default Mii was appearing for it on the user select screen. All my Miis that were linked to users were also deleted, so I only had one other Mii to link the user to. I should also note that the region is Japanese and I was experimenting with translating almost everything to English.

Does it hang or does the home button menu still work?
It hangs. Need to shut down by holding the power button for 4 seconds in order to do anything. It also doesn't play the boot song, just silence.

EDIT: To give some more detail, upon attempting to create an account or link a NNID, the screen fades to blank white and nothing happens.

I can't find anything helpful in the logs. Maybe just try to reinstall that application. You can download it with JNUS Tool and -dlEncrypted flag.

And what game ID would that be? The Japanese one for Account Settings? Can't seem to find what it would be on the database...

Maybe Account Settings
Closest thing I could find as well. I'll try.

So I haven't tried reinstalling it (yet), but it occurred to me, if you were thinking of using WUP Installer to reinstall, if I remember correctly, it needs to be a valid game ID (not including system apps) so it would need to be 00050000 (eShop) or 0005000e (Update) title to install, as opposed to the 00050010 that Account Settings is. I could still try WUP Installer of course but I could also try transferring the decrypted files into the correct title directory over FTPii. Don't know if that would exactly "reinstall" though?

Let me know if you were thinking of installing with some other method...

So I tried installing with WUP Installer AND UDPIH, WUP Installer gave the expected "Not a game, game update, DLC, or demo title" message, and UDPIH simply gave an error when trying to install. So, I made a backup of the app over FTP and installed a decrypted JNUSTool download of it. I noticed that, in the original "Meta" folder, there was a "Message" directory with all the language subfolders, but no files inside them. I've seen similar with the Internet Browser and eShop. But the JNUSTool downloaded one didn't. Anyway I made a copy of the Content folder, and accidentally deleted the Code, Content, and Meta folders (I didn't make a backup of Code and Meta) but just decided to put in the JNUSTool one. Upon pressing the "Create/Link Nintendo Network ID" button, the screen takes a little longer to turn white, but still does so and doesn't do anything after that.

I'm almost certain now that the misfunctioning app is Account Settings, as I can't figure out what else it would be...

Getting desperate now, don't neccessarily want to sell it like this...

Try installing it with NUSpli.
I'm super surprised, but it actually worked. Never would've assumed NUSspli could install system titles, being a piracy program and all, but it did. Nonetheless, the Wii U still fades to a white screen after install. IDK what to do now, it probably has to do with the fact that I deleted those users.

Unfortunately, I have already tried this, and it resulted in this:
I tried putting the users back and editing the common.dat file to have all the accounts added back in, but it deleted my one remaining account and instead put one in that didn't have a Mii linked to it, so its username was appearing as "???", its profile picture was a mii silhouette with a "?" in its face and the default Mii was appearing for it on the user select screen. All my Miis that were linked to users were also deleted, so I only had one other Mii to link the user to.
Although I could try again as when I did this, I may have modified common.dat (the file that tells the Wii U which users to load; the actual users have their own directories like you said) incorrectly; put simply, I changed the order of something that I maybe shouldn't have.

Why not do a factory reset?
There are some games on it that would, of course, give it more value. As I'm planning to uninstall Tiramisu and the Environment loader before selling, I couldn't do that if I wanted to keep the games. (They were legally purchased from the eShop and couldn't be booted after reinstall without sigpatches). If it comes down to it though, I can.

I just figured out that the broken app is actually the Wii U Menu, not Account Settings (well we don't know if the app is broken or if it's saves or something but you get the point lol) as the application is translated by my translation pack yet the pack doesn't touch Account Manager. Inside of the Wii U Menu's AllMessage are the text files for user creation and Nintendo Network ID creation/linking, so that's how I'm sure. But ofc I don't wanna reinstall the Wii U Menu lol so I am going to look around in the saves to try and find data from old users that could be deleted.

And you deleted the linked user / NNID, so you can't run these games without sigpatches anymore anyway.

Why not? It will just remove coldboot for Tiramisu/Aroma but that can be fixed with ease.

I would highly suggest to reinstall all the titles you messed with. These language changing guides are all other than reliable (this thread is actually a good example of this).

I like to say NUSspli is whatever you do with it. Yes, it can be used for piracy purposed but there are also a lot of valid uses, like reinstalling system titles.
