why? i liked being olimar or louie, being forced to be an original character is always bad imo.

You can probably play as the characters from the previous games once you rescue them. Otherwise it would be quite dumb and Nintendo is pulling a Sonic Forces.

so no more design characters with story and personality now they switch to the whole generic no soul genderless current year MC

almost no game that forces you to create an original character lets you play with regular characters, since you are now part of the story :S

this happens all the damn time sadly.

Sure, the story set up is unoriginal (3 already tasked you with saving Olimar partway through), but in the case of Pikmin the story isn't *as* important as exploration, using the primary three Pikmin colours (plus any returning or new ones) to kill enemies and retrieve objects and solve puzzles.

Great, now future Smash games will feature ANOTHER non-specific avatar character on the roster whose 8 costumes will be tasked with representing the character every player made in the game — and therefore will fail both to capture any individual’s personal experience and any collective experience.

Personal gripe there, sorry.

The character options and style actually look really cute. Pikmin is a great series!
