I'm not using emuNAND anymore because I found it slowed down load times, which lead to frame drops in certain games like Ori and the Will of Wisps. This was despite using a Sandisk Extreme micro SD card which should be lightning fast. But the problem with the brick code is solved anyway. Thank you for a more helpful response.

DBI is very powerful and super stable and super fast.
I use it mostly for USB installation from external harddrive.
Tinfoil is more for piracy "shops", it´s a bit bloated imo and I don´t really trust it´s stability.
If it wasn´t the standard for all shops, I wouldn´t use it probably.
Also it´s author is a very toxic person.

Yes it does. And not only for signatures, but also for hash of the files transferred to be sure files are copied OK. This is unique feature, no other installer did that.
Were you using file based emuNAND? I haven't noticed any issues with partition based.
There's only one partition on the micro SD card I was using so I believe it was file based.
That would probably explain it. File based is always slower because it's going through 2 layers of file system.

Of course. External usb, sd card, usb from phone, ftp, http, sftp.

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
