Last time I hacked a Switch I used Tinfoil but to my understanding it's been superceded by Goldleaf. The most recent Switch firmware is 16.0.3 but according to the Goldleaf changelog, it only supports up to 16.0.1.

agreed with slam. stick with tinfoil. i've been using it for years and its "Just a title manager" unlike goldleaf, which makes you go through a ton of hoops.

dbi seems to be the most popular one nowadays.
I personally use Awoo Installer because it works for me, has the features I need, and it doesn't use MTP which I have bad experiences with on mobile (it always seems to be super slow at transferring files) like dbi does.
But I haven't tried dbi yet. I've just stuck with what works. Both seem like solid options.
Goldleaf doesn't seem to be used much anymore. It's likely that it works just fine on latest fw (I see no reason why it wouldn't) as not much changed after 16.0.1. But most people seem to have moved to either dbi or Awoo.
You don't have to use DBI's MTP feature, if it doesn't suit you. You can use the dbibackend, it works nicely too. Personally, I haven't touched another title installer since I found DBI.
Does DBI check for valid signatures? If I remember correctly, some Pokemon games were hacked to include brick code.
Some XCIs and NSPs of Pokemon Sword and Let's Go Pikachu have brick code in them. Tinfoil checks whether a game has a valid signature and the default settings don't let you install games without one.
emuNAND makes this a non issue anyway.
But Atmosphere doesn't allow writing to PRODINFO by default anymore, which was how the brickers worked.
