I have Evilnat 4.89.3 Cobra 8.4 [PEX], IRISMAN 4.89 and FileZilla Client installed and I'm having these issues:

1 - As soon as I click "Enable FTP" in "Cobra Tools" under "* Custom Firmware Tools" with an USB device connected to my PS3, the latter freezes (I tested this in another PS3 Slim and a friend of mine also did it in his PS3 Slim and we're having this problem in them, too);

2 - The PS3 beeps thrice and restarts when exiting IRISMAN using the PS button after uploading files from the PC to the PS3 with FileZilla Client and with an USB device connected to my PS3;

3 - The PS3 often freezes when returning to XMB from IRISMAN using the Circle button after uploading files from the PC to the PS3 with FileZilla Client and with an USB device connected to my PS3 and when clicking the PS3's power button, the PS3 beeps thrice and turns off;

4 - Sometimes, the PS3 also beeps thrice and restarts after exiting a game or app using the PS button with an USB device connected to my PS3;

5 - There are times when the PS3 beeps thrice and restarts in other occasions as well;

6 - Occasionally, when using FileZilla Client to upload PKG files from the PC to the PS3 while IRISMAN is running, the uploads start very slowly (like under 1 MiB/s instead of 18 something MiB/s) and take some time to reach the right speed (18 something MiB/s);

7 - If I leave FileZilla Client connected to my PS3 for some time, I can't reconnect to it until I close FileZilla Client and run it again. This also happens with the PS2, PSP, PS Vita and PS TV;

8 - My PS3 keeps asking to connect the controller and press the PS button. I also have this issue with the stock HDD (the current HDD was bought in August 2021);

9 - After clicking "Check File system", it doesn't even reach 50% and the PS3 restarts to XMB.

Jesus, man. Use openps3ftp plugin for an always on connection. Don't enable ftp. If that doesn't work, it's definitely user error.

Again, didn't you say you'd never answer my replies again and before that didn't you say more than once you didn't want to be bothered with the PS3 scene?

I already told you the PS3 doesn't freeze if I use that plugin but FileZilla Client's upload speed is slow if using it instead of FileZilla Client with IRISMAN.

What about the other issues?

User error? What did I do wrong?

At this point, I don't think can or should help you. You have problems no one else does, and when it's across multiple systems, the ps3, the vita, the ps5, either you have the worst luck or you're stupid. There's really no helping you at this point. Stay away from hacking, PLEASE...

Again, of course it's mostly the former, since many of them were even fixed after some updates were out, and in other cases, it's thanks to faulty hardware, because after doing the same process in other consoles I don't have them. It was you who said you'd never answer my replies again and that you didn't want to be bothered with the PS3 scene.

Some Reddit, GBATemp and PSX-Place users also complained about some of the problems I do (not this specific thread's but about others).

No, I won't stay away.

You'll need to do all the obvious things, like try enabling it without connected to a network, then only with your router. Then downgrade and see if the same thing occurs etc.

You're the only person that can provide any information on the issue, once you have done enough investigation then you can raise a bug report.

There isn't going to be a "click this option if it hangs" that anyone here can help with. PS3 ftp servers have always been pretty unreliable, I try to limit how many files I send.

It still freezes if not connected to the Internet but why did you ask to check if it worked that way since with no internet access FTP servers don't work? Also, the previous Evilnat version doesn't even have a FTP server so how can it be tested?

I think I already provided enough information and done enough investigation, and like I said, I have this problem in another PS3 Slim and a friend told me he has it in his PS3 Slim too.

I also try to limit how many files I upload but that doesn't have to do with this. I even have the second problem after uploading a single file.

post here then

https://www.psx-place.com/threads/cfw-4-89-3-evilnat-cobra-8-4-cex-dex-pex.37294/

Though it looks like you might be a bit late I will remove the option for FTP, it works well for some but not for others and I don't know what could be the reason yet

Already did. Like I said, others are having this problem but according to @godreborn, it's my fault.

EDIT: If I close FileZilla Client after uploading files from the PC to the PS3 or if I don't connect an USB device to the PS3 before uploading them (or if I take it after uploading them), I can exit IRISMAN using the PS button without the PS3 beeping thrice and restarting and I can return to XMB from IRISMAN using the Circle button without the PS3 beeping thrice and turning off.

Already did. So, it looks like other users are having this problem but according to @godreborn, it's my fault.

EDIT: If I close FileZilla or WinSCP after transferring files, I can go back to XMB from IRISMAN without the PS3 freezing.

EDIT 2: If I return to XMB from multiMAN and Rebug Toolbox after transferring files to the PS3 with FileZIlla or WinSCP, the PS3 doesn't freeze/beep thrice and restart, so maybe it's IRISMAN's fault (as well as the second issue). Also, the third issue happens if using multiMAN, Rebug Toolbox and Cobra's FTP too.
I'm still on sman from years ago, though I haven't had chance to upgrade the ps3 yet.

Why do you care if some random thinks it's your fault?

Don't be offended then, you control how you react to people.

Could you stick to the thread?

EDIT: I've reinstalled Evilnat 4.89.3 Cobra 8.4 [PEX], IRISMAN 4.89 and FileZilla Client, used the "Restore File System" and "Rebuild Database" settings from the PS3's Safe Mode and swapped the PS3's HDD for the stock one and for a SSD I bought a week ago and I still have these issues.

EDIT 2: Thanks to the SSD, I'm now getting 21 something MiB/s instead of 18 something MiB/s when uploading PKG files from the PC to the PS3, at least.

EDIT 3: I have a new PC and when uploading PKG files from the PC to the PS3, I'm now getting 22 MiB/s (and even slightly more).

EDIT 4: Now, the PS3 sometimes says it cannot start and the appropriate system storage was not found. I never had this problem with both HDDs.

EDIT 5: Currently, the PS3 isn't saying it cannot start and the appropriate system storage was not found but the PS3 still asks to connect the controller and press the PS button from time to time. I only had the former problem that day.

EDIT 6: I haven't had the latter issue.

EDIT 7: I had the latter issue again.

EDIT 8: I was told in PSX-Place the PS3 saying it cannot start and the appropriate system storage was not found problem was a known issue if using a SSD since the PS3 doesn't support it and lacks some features to handle it well.

EDIT 9: According to PSX-Place, the "Enable FTP" and "Disable FTP" settings in "Cobra Tools" under "* Custom Firmware Tools" can randomly fail and if users want to use them, they should wait a few seconds, but even so, clicking "Enable FTP" with an USB device connected to my PS3 still freezes the console.

EDIT 10: I'm not having the "1" issue on Evilnat 4.91.2 [BETA 4] but now FileZilla Client can't show the PS3's directories when clicking "Enable FTP" in "Cobra Tools" under "* Custom Firmware Tools" if an external HDD is connected to the console. Also, now, the "Check File System" setting in "Service Tools" in "* Custom Firmware Tools" isn't working. Other users reported this problem so a recent Evilnat version broke it.

EDIT 11: Now, my PS3 is stuck a 47% in system file restore, no matter what I do. It asks to format the SSD and if I do that I'll lose all the game data, like PSN games, DLC, game saves and apps. The console even freezes when I click to rebuild the database or to install the FW in Safe Mode so unfortunately, it seems I have no choice but to format the SSD. I'm tired of having problems. I might as well return to the HDD since I've been told the PS3 has problems with some SSDs (even though I had a lot of them with HDDs and on different PS3s).

EDIT 12: I formatted the SSD and set "Improper Shutdown Warning" to "On" and I stopped having the "Check File System" setting issue. I had to click "Toggle Debug Settings" (in "* Custom Firmware Tools" under "CEX2DEX Tools") to change "Debug Settings:" to "DEX" for the "Improper Shutdown Warning" setting to appear in "* Debug Settings". A PSX-Place user told to set the "Improper Shutdown Warning" to "Off" since he was also having this issue and that had fixed it. Also, now, when checking the HDD after clicking "Check File System" in "Service Tools" under "* Custom Firmware Tools", it reaches 100% before the PS3 restarts but that might happen because I formatted the SSD.
