Nor is insulting people, talking over them, chewing with your mouth open at dinner, burping loudly. They do degrade your social status though. It's not illegal for you to be a Bigot but mind you that Bigotry will degrade your social status which is what you've been observing here. I have a feeling that's probably equally as important to you as staying out of Jail.
Let me reiterate this since your type can be a bit thick-headed. No one denies you of your legal right to talk badly about or to people or groups, you have that legal right under the first amendment. What will happen though is that you will lose social status from doing that, also might be asked to leave certain places due to your attitude. You still have the legal right of free speech but people also have the right to not listen.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better. -

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
