"Silent Hill: Ascension", the interactive series by Genvid, gets a new trailer

Out of all the projects announced back in the Silent Hill stream of October, 2022, the one that without a doubt had many questioning what it was or how it'd work was "Silent Hill: Ascension" by Genvid, which claims to be an interactive series of sorts in which the user determines the outcome of the characters.

Today, a new trailer has been released, showing some of the characters, enemies and settings that the "series" will focus on, closing up with the line "Their fate is in your hands". While the trailer does a good job at showcasing the tone of it, it does very little to demonstrate exactly how this interactive series will unfold in real-time for the user, nor what will be the medium for the user to interact with it, as that still remains to be seen.

All in all, it's nice to see Silent Hill back on track, and with the recent announcement of Metal Gear Solid 3 getting a remake and also the MGS Collection in the upcoming future, Konami fans are finally getting something more than simpile Pachinko machines.

it's not a game, it's an animated series.

honestly, i'm cautiously optimistic. the writing could end up being awful, but the aesthetic actually feels like silent hill.
and using actual monsters instead of pyramid head for the 12893579102353125 time gives me hope
I learned that after making my post and my day was ruined further. I just want to see a Silent Hill game that is fun

I don't see any part of this this have anything to do with silent hill except the name, I had a feeling non of the people working on this project played silent hill before, not even Konami.

Probably everything but the Switch, because fuck us Switch owners.

They need to go back to the roots of the first 3 games, they were what made Silent Hill truly frightening. This new one looks to be aimed at Far-Eastern audiences, instead of the West.

...?
Silent Hill's first four titles were made by Japanese teams.
They wouldn't be what they are without Japanese horror.
If the series is evocative of East Asian horror to you, then they're doing something right.

What I'm saying is it doesn't look like it is being made for western audiences. I'm well-aware of thos facts you presented.

But like... it's only when they started exclusively targeting western audiences that the quality of the series dropped.

To be frank, to me the decay in quality only made itself really apparent with Downpour.
I played through Homecoming one night at a nephew's place, an all nighter finishing the entire game, and I found it quite good for a Silent Hill.
I'm sure it's not of the same level as the original 4, but it still is a solid entry.

But Downpour, damn...

I checked a little more about Genvid, and I found they were working on a Twitch's overlay for viewer's interactivity.
show mini map with all players, interact in the game events, etc.

So, this silent hill movie could be complete (no need to wait for days until the viewers vote and the broadcaster choose which episode will air next).
just wondering if it'll be a unique thing, a single story, or if there will be many instances, a way to replay and be part of another viewer's group to make another decisions.
If it's a single one, it's a waste of resources and time they spent on making all the different story branches. I can guess there will be multiple broadcasts. Just wondering how will host it, and how many will be available at the same time, or how long to wait until next air.
