A bit of double-sided sticky tape cut to size seems like it should hold that in place well enough if not better than just a single point connection, no?

The solder joint is pretty big and should hold well. With the tape you can't be sure how it will hold up over time especially with heat.
I inserted and removed the card a few times and it holds

Neato. It worked.

One thing of note: solder the capacitor in last.
Should be obvious, but, yeah.

Now just gotta fix the file corruption, I guess. Hope that works out.

Nice. Just one tiny thing, don't route the 3V3 cable over thegold pad next to the drive connector, or else it will interfere with the the metal shield, just push it closer to the eMMC. Also be careful with the vias next to the transistors the wire goes over, you don't want to short them with the unisolated part of the wire.
What model of micro SD are you using? From the white color it could be a Sandisk High or Max Endurance? I also moved my console over to a Max Endurance, just to be on the safe side.

It's a Sandisk High Endurance. I'll get the Max when I do my main console.

I've already put it back together and didn't really get any problems aside from losing a couple screws but I guess I could go back in and readjust it.

Is there somewhere to order NAND-AIDS?
You don't get how this work it seems? NAND-AID is no service, it's not even hardware you can order, it's just a PCB design.

So what can you do with it?
- Learn how to print PCBs, how to solder and DIY.
- Ask a company to print a PCB based on that design and solder it for yourself.
- Take a finished PCB from somebody like SDIO or Lazr and solder it.
- Ask a repair shop If they could do it (most likely they don't even know what NAND-AID is but worth a try).
- Send your console to a community memeber doing all the work for you (like Lazr suggested).

I am idly wondering if NAND-AID/UDPIH/de_Fuse (soon?) repairs is viable as a side hustle though. Guess it depends how many local dead consoles there are.

That's an interesting point. Wii U were low in numbers, so recovering dead Wii U's might make sense. But the problem too is that is so low that will it make sense trying to recover dead console which you brought from ebay? People sell dead GameBoy for ridiculous prices.

Example of dead GameBoy ebay listing:-
  • screen is dead
  • screen has a crack from the bullet test
  • corrosion in the battery container
  • Motherboard has stuff missing
  • never was able to read games even the day I got it.
  • I threw in Radar Mission for free
  • I want £200 plus shipping of worldwide (£300)

The market for broken consoles has, indeed, gotten insane, for which I blame (well, not "blame", per se, but I think it comes as a side effect) YouTubers that showcase fixing giant lots of items easily. You used to be able to get broken items for cheap, and I feel people have seen that people fix them as a side job and adjusted their prices accordingly.

That said, WiiUs, especially Japanese ones, go for really cheap, at least right now:

That’s insane. Shipping is 6.5 times the cost of the console lol

"untested" - probably works fine! I think you can make these region-free without CFW using a bit of SEEPROM hackery, though getting hold of a GamePad (esp. with a working touchscreen) and all the other bits to actually make it a decent set to sell onwards is likely the hard part.

I also just don't know how many buyers you'd see if you weren't loading them up with Super Hacked Homebrew USB Hard Drive, which I find to be a somewhat icky practice.

I was thinking about a repair service for owners of dead consoles when I made my post, though that audience is probably even more niche? Guess it depends how many Hynix consoles are out there, and whether de_Fuse becomes essential kit or not in the future xP
