The Little Mermaid. Is it getting flak because of racism, or because it's yet another remake?

No. Without context, I can't tell which side you are on, with that meme. Which is why a lot of people use words when they have a specific point to make. That image honestly could be hitting both sides; the ones who don't want live action remakes AND the racists.

It could be saying that NEITHER is "affiliated with me".
The one who doesn't like it because it's a lazy cash grab is saying you're not affiliated with me to the racist. Have you not seen the Incredibles? If not, do it. It's a good movie.

Double and TRIPLE fuck them, in the face, with a salted brick, for what they did to Death Note. My man.

My take on this:

The Ukranian situation's going to escalate, nukes are going to be thrown and humanity is going extinct. Then in thousands of years, an advanced alien race is going to excavate the world to learn what went down, discover, reactivate and decipher servers.

And they'll learn that many humans were more occupied with the skin color of an actress playing a fish creature in a fictional movie than with that conflict.

I think its gotten to a point where most ppl will just outright toss any future live action movie or TV series right in the garbage.
Even if they had the smallest criticism....its bad. Disney has been spoon feeding us Pixar films for so long making it very hard for some of us to transition into live action. The songs alone can have a cringe effect since we are older now or just a pure Zoomer that makes fun of everything in life :creep: . So unless you sing along or rejoice your nostalgic child past from them thats the only way to accept these movies the way they are.
This is a "Woke" Era I have to say I'm not really surprised at all why racism even sparked up on this topic.

I just wanted to see the live version of the cute redhead that I already developed an imaginary relationship with. Very disappointed. Felt like my waifu was condemned to the void. For race wars.

It's getting flak because it's cultural appropriation. The little mermaid is originally a red headed white mermaid chick. Recently the movie makers and streaming services have been "blackwashing" and race swapping out original characters and historic figures for black people.
So where was the outrage when Eddie Murphy remade The Nutty Professor, originally played by Jerry Lewis, a jewish comedian? Or when he was Dr Doolittle, who was originally on screen by Rex Harrison, a white man? Ponyo is based on TLM too, where was the outrage at that too? Or when J-horror remakes get remade casting a white person? Even if I thought white people could be 'culturally appropriated', the answer is because remakes and retellings aren't culturally appropriation.

By the way, the red hair was a disney invention, the book doesn't specify hair color, btw. It's a fantasy movie, based on a fairy tale, and can be adapted any way they want it to be. It's really not that deep.

I issue a challenge. You accept. I call for you to name your weapons. I name the place. We duel at dawn. You name some stupid ass weapon and I post something equally dumb about Leeroy Jenkins or a battle cry, and the joke is over.

Over some stupid fictitious ranking list of personal preference. Which IS the entire fucking joke.

Fuck me. And *I* am the one with the concussion?

At least I didn't hurt my elbow patting myself too hard on the back in response to a joke I didn't get

You missed Song of the South. "Controversial" or not (it wasn't when they made it), it is one their best films.

Really if you don't want to see it for whatever reason just don't go see it. Enjoy life it's too short to be worried about dumb stuff lol

As someone has seen them... They're not bad movies, i'll dare to say they're good. Obviously they can't surpass the originals, but thats mostly Nostalgia talking. I've obserbed this situation from the outside for a while and its just a bunch of racists online being pissy over a bunch of special snowflakes online that are unable to relate to a fictional character unless they look exacly the same as them and vise versa.
A.K.A: the internet making mountains out of molehills like always.

No, Tarzan Live Action Movie, will be about a Woman that didn't needed the monkeys or wolves or any other animals to survive, instead Tarzan will be an independent and strong woman that goes to the city and becomes a lawyer.
