Nintendo issues rebootless update for firmware 16.0.3

dsdadsdsa.png

An incredibly minor update was sent out to Nintendo Switch systems in the form of a rebootless update for firmware 16.0.3. The exciting content within this slight patch is just a simple change to Nintendo's bad words list, including some removals. For players in Japan, "adhd" is no longer marked as a bad word. Atmosphere and all homebrew should continue to function, and the current firmware version number remains unchanged.

This was an issue?
ADHD and Asperger's are used as slurs in Japan according to what I read when they added the work in 16.0.2. I suppose a lot of people got also barred of talking about ADHD properly.

Edit:
Here's an article referencing it. Here's a sociological study on it. Here's Japanse magazine chronicle refferencing stigma and lack of diagnose in early years.

Odd that they'd say ADHD as a slur.. Why use a (current) medical term as a slur?
Well, there are worse sometime
On blizzard's battle.net, i understand they censor words like ass or dick, because there is literally no other way to use these words other than in a sexual or mean way. Of course, people will talk about Richard... That damn Richard...
Anyway, i dont know if it's still the case, but battle.net was censoring the word "gay" because it was a slur...
I mean, people were using it as a slur, but if you tell an actual gay that he is gay, he wont consider it as a slur, he would probably have told everyone on the server that he was gay anyway. But if someone gets offensed by being told he is gay, well... Here in quebec, we say that those guys are "unsure about their sexuality"

Makes sense, mental health, disorders, and so on are stigmatized super hard in Japan

Not just in japan, most, if not all, asian country still have lot of misunderstanding about mental disorder and a lot of families there may even consider them as "a stain to remove from their family tree"
Being autistic myself, and having a coupld of other disorders, i find it horrible and just cant imagine what my life would have been if i was born there...

I dont know if its true, but i've heard horror stories of people with a mental disorder in middle-eastern countries who were all diagnosed the same thing no matter the symptoms, they were mad. They didnt have any real diagnosis aside that, but they had the cure to it, which apparently looked a lot like torture.

You should really try to visit Japan before adopting bullshit opinions that you found on the internet. First, ADHD and* Asperger's aren't "slurs", and the infrastructure of school systems and public facilities are very accommodating to the disabled.

I don't know japanese linguistics not will I pretend to but that's how ir goes mostly in the rest of the world. Almost every word you have to call someone dull has once been a medical term. Idiot and stupid for example, more recently the r-word came from mental retardation. Soon enough you'll surely have more.

Mental disabilities are seen as an easy target. People like to pick on the most vulnerable people on society and make and use their vulnerability as a weapon against them and others (and having them as collateral). It feeds their superiority complex and lacks much social consequence. Things have been improving a little thankfully but this ugly part of human nature is hard to change.

When I use it as a slang i.e., "that is gay", I'm using it ironically from the word gay (happy, joyous). It has nothing to do with the other slang usage, for homosexuality. People seem to forget that.
