New Story of Seasons and Rune Factory games announced

Publisher Marvelous Europe, otherwise known as the parent company of XSEED Games, hosted a 30-minute presentation today, showcasing their upcoming projects. The games they plan to develop new IPs, alongside new entries in the Story of Seasons, Rune Factory, and DAEMON X MACHINA franchises.

The first game shown was Loop 8: Summer of Gods, which appears to take place in a normal high school, until it's revealed that the group of protagonists fight demons. You can build relationships with the characters during the day, and fight enemies at night. It features RPG combat. It'll release on various platforms on June 6th in both NA and EU.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life and Rune Factory 3: Special are both on track for their launches this September.

Fashion Dreamer is a Nintendo Switch title where you play as a fashion influencer, with "social elements". The developers say that being creative and sharing your outfits is a big part of the game. There looks to be a lot of different styles you can put together. More likes and shares from fellow players help you unlock more clothing.

Project Magia will have the writer and illustration of the popular manga Fairy Tail working on it. Marvelous says the theme of this game is, "a new frontier". This one seems early on in development.

PROJECT LIFE is RPG takes the idea of how important some JRPGs have been to players, and how they represent life. The game wants to honor older JRPGs from the 90s, and is an ambitious project for Marvelous.

Next up is a retrospective of all the Story of Seasons games throughout the years. While it has no title yet, a new Story of Seasons game is currently under development. This game will attempt to freshen up the series after 27 years of games. They want to keep what makes Story of Seasons so beloved, while trying to reach more players than they have in the past. Visual presentation and aesthetics will have a large focus.

A second Story of Seasons game is in the works. This one takes one of the biggest requests from fans, and will have a focus on multiplayer with friends.

Rune Factory is getting some love too, with Rune Factory 6 formally announced.

That's not all--a Rune Factory spinoff game with a more action-oriented gameplay system is in the works. This one is called Rune Factory: Project Dragon. Romancing and farming will still be in it.

Finally, DAEMON X Machina is getting a new entry, which is a sequel to the first.

Fashion Dreamer: syn Sophia President and CEO Shuji Yoshida joined Sato-san to share a new look at the upcoming fashion influencer game debuting on the Nintendo Switch™ system this year. In addition to showing off some new fashions, Yoshida-san revealed early details on the social elements that will be central to the game’s experience. Built around the theme of “Sharing and Playing Together”, Fashion Dreamer focuses on creativity and connectivity, driving positive social interactions with an eye towards free expression.

PROJECT MAGIA: Managing Producer Takehiro Ishida revealed the first details of this upcoming project, built around the theme of “A New Frontier”. The development team has partnered with legendary illustrator and writer Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail) to design the game's characters, sharing a look at a few of the early designs. More details will be revealed at a later date as the development team works to brave this new frontier for Marvelous!

PROJECT LIFE is RPG: Harkening back to influential RPGs from Japanese developers over the years, PROJECT LIFE is RPG is a brand-new IP from Marvelous. Director Ittetsu Suzuki joined to share some of the team's inspirations behind this new title, built around the theme of “Life” and all the ways it resembles an RPG. With the goal of building an original title all RPG fans will love, the team is working to capture the “feeling of anticipation” just before every great adventure.

STORY OF SEASONS: With a central theme of “Experiences”, Series Manager Hikaru Nakano revealed the first footage of the next title in the original farm/life simulation series, highlighting a fresh look after 27 years of farming and friendship. Nakano-san also shared exciting news and the first concept images for a separate, future entry in development, which is planned to bring STORY OF SEASONS fans together with an ambitious new title where you can play with everyone!

Rune Factory: Series Director Shiro Maekawa joined Sato-san to reveal the first footage of a new spinoff in the Rune Factory series, “PROJECT DRAGON”. Building upon the central theme of “East and West”, “PROJECT DRAGON” is set in the “Land of the East,” which has long been referenced but never shown in the series, where Earthmates will explore new lands and communities with Japanese-styled design influences. Additionally, Maekawa-san confirmed that Rune Factory 6 is also in development and will take place in the western continent of Adonea, with both upcoming titles representing the East and West.

DAEMON X MACHINA: Titanic Scion: Marvelous' First Studio and visionary producer Kenichiro Tsukuda are back with an all-new entry in the third-person mech shooter series. Fans can look forward to the return of unforgettable Arsenal action, with more details about this anticipated sequel becoming available at a later date.

Being perfectly blunt, I only know of xseed because of the retro game challenge series. Since I have to presume production on GCCX is concluded, they don't have the motivation to pursue another one? Disappointing, but, whatever I guess.

I only know of marvelous because of publishing the no more heroes games. Though the story of killer7 doesn't leave much of any room for a sequel, a part of me wishes we got something else like that.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
