That's strange.. I'm not sure how to solve this problem. On discord CTCaer replied

well that's weird, since init fails normally are the connector pins (or in modded cases could be solder junk shorting the vdd rails)j ust check your connector pins that they are not broken, missing or on the air but anyway, that's a hw issue the only difference is that it's peculiar. and having only the big ones get affected immediately it points more to power issues

All my diode readings on the power rails seem ok. I think I'll resolder some wires to the pico to double check it's not that.

Check your SD card flex pins.

I have this same exact issue... OLED with HWFly chip. Fails to init 90% of the time with my 512 SD card (samsung evo). Works fine in my other switch (V2 modded). I put in a 64gb sd card and works 100% of the time. Only with my 256 and 512 SD cards. hardware looks fine. I looked at my pins and pads under a microscope and they look good.

Picofly’d a V2. Using a fat32 1tb san disk as my sd. Created emmunand, booted into atmosphere, t.foil, downloading 60gigs from p.shop, and I get this message. Try to exit out, switch goes to gray screen. Restart v2, it glitches into “failed to init sd card”. Took the sd card out, plugged it into pc, and pc doesn’t read it. What do I do?

Be very suspicious of the card. Is it genuine?

I didn’t test it before using it, I should’ve. It came from a seller on Amazon with 4.8 stars on 47k reviews, so I would think it is. The card was acting “funny” when I would use it on my pc and when creating the emmunand, it would take 30 seconds longer to be detectable or start a process. I chalked it up to the massive size of the card, but I hindsight maybe it’s faulty.

I can’t boot into hekate, the sd card doesn’t initialize after the glitch. Also, this card isn’t detectable in my pc while my other SanDisks are. I’m going to return or get it replaced.

Just as a heads up, it was the SD card for me. I've used Samsung EVO forever and it even works on my V2 but not for the OLED.... Sandisk Extreme worked like a charm. I tried MULTIPLE different brands too. I replaced SD card slot too and almost soldered a new connector onto the PCB.... So glad i didnt.

Did anyone manage to solve it?
I have the same problem on a Switch Oled.
It works perfectly with a 128GB Sandisk Extreme card, however, when I apply a 256GB Lexar or Samsung Evo Plus (Both 100% genuine) it gives the same error when starting up.
The Samsung still boots sometimes, but it has flaws in the Hekate benchmark, while the Lexar Play doesn't even get into the Hekate.

boot switch without sdcard, when nosd screen appears, press vol+ and vol- to boot to OFW
once in ofw, insert your 256gb card, if it detects it, wait for a few seconds - if your hos crashes, it means hardware fault on the 3.3v line of your sdcard circuit, it may have a short somewhere or the driver or mosfet nearby has failed and giving less than 3v / lower than required to run higher sd.
This exact problem is happening, could you tell me which IC would be directly responsible for the Micro SD voltages?

Wow! Googling "picofly SD card no longer working" brought me here. I installed a picofly into a switch V2 and definitely didn't go near the SD card reader. I tried changing the SD card reader too (from a V1 switch) and I'm getting the same problem.

32gb verbatim works fine
128gb SanDisk works fine
3x 512gb Samsung EVO Plus rarely work (failed to init sd card)

The actual connector on the motherboard looks fine too. It actually detects fine in OFW so I'm wondering if it's a different issue.

Anyone have any updates? Did you have to replace or resolder the SD card connection or anything?

You can see above that I had the exact same issue. https://gbatemp.net/threads/failed-...gb-cards-works-with-64gb.630925/post-10193177

The EVO has something wrong with it IMO. I went with a 512Gb Sandisk Extreme and that solved my issue.

Thanks, I hope so. I will get rid of my Samsung SD card and buy a SanDisk. Will update my post or reply to the thread.

Update. I bought a new 512GB SanDisk extreme and it works perfectly with my switch V2 + picofly.

I purchased my Samsung cards from a legit franchise here in my country. My conclusion is that the picofly doesn't like the Samsung SD cards. They work perfectly on my OLED with hwfly however.

I'm glad it wasn't the connector.
