I'm still waiting on my newly chipped Wii to get back to me. Here's what it'll have - Wiikey 1.9g and 3.1J firmware.

I've got the DVD5 version of SSBB downloaded and the full DL copy is downloading right now. With both of these copies, and with what's in my system, how should I go about getting my Brawl on?

1. Run the update from the DL version?
2. Run the update from the DVD5 version, then Brickblock the DL copy?
3. Or should I do the 15% trick with the DVD5, and Brickblock the DL?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, so thanks in advance.
hmm 3.1J

1. burn the DL SSBB. update to 100%.
2. play the game.

since its a Jap game on a Jap Wii. no more patching needed.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be burning the game off in anticipation of my Wii's return.

I got my Wii back last night and so far (aside from a few games where I'd forgotten to patch the region to Japan) everything is working perfectly. Whoo-hoo!

The only issue that I had a non-standard solution was Metroid Prime 3. I tried the "dual disc, stop the update by pulling the power" method, but that never worked. So I re-burned the game region-friid and brickblocked, then it worked perfectly. Weird, but no biggie. Now I can play everything - and in English!

any updates on whether super mario galaxy and those other games will brick a jap wii with d2c updated to the latest 3.2J?

heard that with 3.2, after the first prompt to search if an update is required, it will prompt u again before it attempts to update should it be required and not automatically update... can anyone verify this?

I don't know whether to get SSBB Jap or wait for the US one.

A question for those who have played it: How much would I be missing out by getting the JAP one, is there a lot of story and funny texts etc? Or basically just JAP menus and 99% of the content can be enjoyed in the game? Thanks!

Once you can get past the Japanese menus... the game's 100% playable. Nintendo's not exactly known for having any plots or storylines that we haven't seen a million times before.

The story doesn't even have any dialogue.

I can play understand the Japanese version enough to fully enjoy it. Really, I think I will probably miss more in the English version than this one. Because you can already guess that they will cut out everything japanese (Voices and songs) and replace them with crappy dubbing and stuff. I HATE CRAPPY DUBBING AND STUFF!

I won't be playing the game in English, unless someone comes with a way to put English texts in the japanese version (like in Super Mario Galaxy).

btw, this guide can come in handy for learning to understand the menu's: http://faqs.ign.com/articles/849/849163p1.html#menu1

Actually I think it should be possible to patch an Iso to force it to play in a selected language, and it still hasn't been done because a) this issue is quite recent, since previous games didn't present this problem, and b) the problem hasn't been given enough publicity.

I think we should try and raise the attention of someone with the capability to look into wii games' structure, which may be something not that difficult, or it may be impossible to achieve. We still don't know. But since it seems that Jap Wii owners that do not know any japanese, like myself, are a minority, nobody is really caring about it, and if htere are people that can do this, probably do not even know.

Anyone agrees?

For anybody who wants SMG in english on there jap wii & also resident evil in full english, please contact me, i've figured out how to do this, i myself have a jap wii and there really is a lack of help, any body who would like to start a thread about jap wii support go ahead and i'll be happy to post things as i discover them, - [email protected]

djsika, that's a very good effort by you. You could always post your findings in this thread. After all this thread is specifically for jap wii user like us.

Well what I'm hoping to see soon is that either the Vid Mode changer can make SMG USA games like run on the J console or the soon arriving Datel Freeloader. However I'm still dreaming about being able to flash the J firmware to USA

I made a topic with some questions about japanese Wii and 2dckey, but nobody answered it.

I'm transfering the topic for this page. I hope that someone can answer my questions.

Hi.

I've got a japanese Wii with D2CKEY last week (I was "forced" to do it... LOL). dry.gif

Until now I was able to play some USA games (Metroid Prime 3, Battalion Wars 2 and Medal of Honor Heroes 2) and japanese games (Gundam 0079 and Winning Eleven 2008). I fact, I need to play US games because I don´t know nothing about japanese language (I'm brazilian... Even with english I have big problems; I have studied english since 2005). frown.gif

Well I have some questions about my Wii:

1. Some US backups just does not work in a japanese Wii. In the future those ISOs will be playable? In other words, will we have other backups that works fine or something like this?

2. Ok, I play backups, but I wanna to buy some original/oficial games in the future. For example, the Fire Emlem's backup does not work in my japanese Wii. But how about the original/oficial disc? Will it work fine in my console?

3. I have 12 US original/oficial games for my old GameCube... Are there problem about put them in my japanese Wii? And about US backups from GC titles?

4. Sometimes Metroid Prime 3 does not work... The Wii shows a msg in japanese and I need to eject the disc e turn off the console. But after this the disc works fine. Is this a normal problem with the Metroid Prime 3 backup?

5. How can I play WE 2008 online? LOL. laugh.gif

I'm being so careful because here in brazil we have high taxes for imported electronics products and the consoles are veeery expansive (I paid something about 700 US dollars in my Wii - yes, this high price is the only way to play videogames here. The games are very expansive too: a launch game - 49 US dollars - costs something near 90 US dollars here). If I broke my console, I will not able to buy another one too soon.
