I know this has probably been discussed before but I can't find any information about how everyone is creating and printing their cards. I was able to get some NFC stickers a while back but I would like to make some cards that I could keep in a simple deck box. I have tried getting them printed from Office Depot but they only printed them on Cardstock that is to weak. I would appreciate any suggestions into doing this

Two layers of card stock is too weak? Seemed fine to me. But you can also get them printed by a custom playing card place. I used MakePlayingCards.com but I've heard they will stop your order if they see amiibo stuff now, however I'm sure there are other places that will print custom cards.

You could also buy any type of card stock or plastic to use as a core, and then just get the cards printed on label paper that you apply to whatever core you want. Obv the harder the core the more difficult it will be to cut out, so keep that in mind.... you may need some power tools if you wanna go with a plastic core.

Some people have bought coin sized plastic discs and just printed off stickers to put on them, they wouldnt be playing cards but small plastic coins work just as well. You could even buy coin holders/capsules and just print off images onto standard paper... cut out a front and a back image and place the images back to back in the coin capsule with the nfc tag in between.

You can put in as much effort and money as you want to.

So makeplayingcards has flagged the back images for copyright problems, Are there any backs that people have used to go around this issue?

I printed mine at FedEx Office without any trouble. Once they were glued together, the double layer of card stock with the NFC sticker in the middle was noticeably thicker than a real Amiibo card.

Did you decide the Office Depot stock was too thin before you assembled the cards? As I recall, the FedEx Office stock was a bit thinner than the blank stock I have for printing at home and produced a finished card that was plenty thick. Just make sure to use plenty of glue along the cut lines and you'll get what appears to be one solid piece of thick card stock once you cut the cards out.

Edit: You can always cut off a piece of the white space on your print and test it to see what it'll look like when it's glued and cut.

I did say they wouldnt print them. Thats why I suggested looking for an alternative. You could try using paint or w/e to just white out where the amiibo logo is on the back. They might let it through then, but I dont have any way of knowing what they are looking at specifically.

Well, the game's out today, so here's what I came up with. They're not as good as Random's work, but they're as close as I could get to the originals.

And here's a Mega folder with the uncompressed images.

Edit: I just noticed that the original art has a black fade-out at the bottom of the characters. I can probably pull that off, but it'll take a little work and I don't have time at the moment. I'll try to get to it when I can.

Edit: Okay, there's a version in the Mega folder with the gradients. I also was able to clean up my masks so that the diagonal line isn't so pixelated.

With Tears of the Kingdom coming up, I figured I'd get a jump on it and work up a design for the new Amiibo. It's nearly finished, but there's a small detail hiding behind the figure that's keeping me from finishing it. It'll be a simple fix, once my figure pre-order shows up next month and I can see the rest of the image on the backer.

@Random11, if you're planning on doing a TotK card, I'll step aside. I don't want to step on your toes, and your work is a little cleaner than mine. But if you're busy, I'm happy to share what I've got when it's finished.

I suppose I could do one. I would also wait until after I see the box art in hand to release it, if I did end up making one. You can still post yours if you made one though.

It's honestly the way to go. The white circle pattern repeats, and most of the gold circles match that pattern, but there's some weirdness in the gold behind the figure that just can't be worked out without seeing the actual box.

I just made an account to say thank you for all the hard work. I was wondering tho, is there an asset library that you're using for the character artwork, the backgrounds on the front and back of the card or did you make everything yourself?

90% of the time character art used for the box is online already as a transparent png
Impressive work you did as a whole, it really inspired me. I'm just wondering but if you were to look for the transparent version of Zelda without background (which you already did); what would you search for or any sites you recommend? Thank you

For context; the reason I'm asking is that
  1. I was hoping to learn about the process; not asking you to teach me or anything but I really liked what you did I'm looking to take some photoshop classes starting next week so I can try to create my own original cards :)
  2. I was trying to figure out if there was an easy way for me to swap the background in "botw 2 card revali v3" to be the same as "botw card archer v3". The Guardians had different backgrounds in the top right and bottom left corners than the others in the set.

I would google "botw zelda amiibo"

I think you mean champions? There was only one guardian amiibo. Also, are you talking about the paint strokes? Cause all of the botw amiibo have different paint stroke backgrounds on the official box arts, not just the champions. Other than the paint strokes I'm not seeing any other differences?
