Yeah...lots of buzz on it. Hard to deny it. But even so...really? Tax fraud, pressuring Ukraine (pre-war), leading the attack on the capitol, stealing state secrets...and what's the indiction about?

Having an affair with a porn star.

I don't need a lecture to know it's immoral, but just how fucking slow is your justice department? This is from, what? Early 2016? By the time they'll get around to prosecuting him for the serious stuff, he has long died of old age.

Also: what are those 34 cases? From your own links, I get

"The exact charge or charges are unknown, because the grand jury indictment was filed under seal."

I don't doubt there'll be so many cases incoming, but for now everyone seems to be reporting that "it is happening" without bothering to clarify what the "it" is that's busy happening.

The usual phrase is a grand jury would indict a ham sandwich. I would also note many previous prosecutors have had the opportunity, motivation and more and have declined so remains to be seen what will become of this.

Similarly the IRS if it is indeed marking down a hush money payment for sleeping with a tart (how that troubles his brand I am not sure, though might have been early enough for him to be trying the respectable man about town thing still) as an expense typically has 3 years to do anything so statute of limitations is surely long since up which would raise the question of it being overtly political (especially doing it going into a weekend). https://www.thebalancemoney.com/irs-statute-of-limitations-3192947

If you think he is a cunt above and beyond politician standards (you are kind of required to be a self serving narcissist to play high level politics, and any idealism usually get beaten out of you in 5 years at most in favour of winning the next election) then not sure if this is a win really. A best you a) pretty much assured him of the next nomination (it being between him and the Florida governor*), and quite possibly a boost in support (if he gets arrested, printed and mugshot then the mugshot, or suitably reshot one, is going to be on every tshirt, hat, poster and more as a badge of honour for his mob, most will see it as a New York/Democrat power grab) and b) and for the most part fucking up your taxes is a slap on the wrist affair (10 years is the max for serious serious stuff, this not being that at all, would be curious to see New York ramp this up when most other things from real criminals TM get dismissed or pleaded way down).

*it could be a high level play if the Trump brand is indeed a toxic one where De Santis is actually a real politician with some serious on the ground support likely to get those that would but just can't bring themselves to go for Trump. That is a high risk play though. Will probably dominate the news cycle for a few days which might draw attention away from failing banks and economies though. I similarly doubt it would have been a New York prosecutor (New York is a major port) going off on his own either.

These people are cultists
And some of the most vile human scum I've ever had the displeasure of knowing. All 4 of my parents are these type of people, and it's disgusting. I'm happy to be the only left-leaning family member to break away from this crap.

Ron Desantis said he won't extradite Trump to NYC if the order came down to do so. So that'll be fun to watch unfold later. :creep:

I'll go down n Do It Myself, if need be

Why are you still on about Obama?
Assuming you are not going for an intentional misunderstanding it was a point of comparison, ostensibly to say those (assuming we don't have a case of the glowing ones again, will be interesting to see what goes for that over the coming days) singing and chanting about Trump make about as much sense/are ones to get behind as those doing it for Obama would be.

No, I am not assuming anything, bringing up Obama these days is just a strange person to bring up without context or reason. Obama is about as relevant to this conversation as Steve Jobs.

Weirdos singing for an ex president. Seems a perfectly logical comparison from where I sit.

I see the same hagiography and cult of personality surrounding both. The fact that the cult of Obama was peaking 15 years ago and the cult of Trump is still an ongoing thing doesn't matter. In another 15 years it'll be someone else. It's about how a certain percentage of the population wants a king (or queen) figure to worship.

Respectfully, I'd argue that the prevelance here is because of how characteristically intense Trump supporters tend to be. Yes, every political candidate will have the nut jobs who scream in your face, but Trump has been the center of so much controversy that his supporters are more polarized than most.

Not sure how old you are, but I'm unfortunately o.a.f. And I saw people having effectively a religious experience wrt: Obama in 2008. Like nothing I've seen from Democrats for any other candidate, but every bit as intense as what I see from Trump fans now. Just, where the Obama worshippers reacted with a kind of spiritual ecstasy at their hero's triumphs, the Trump people behave similarly to sports fans. Same energy levels, different forms of output.

Anyway, pretty much off topic. This is re: Trump getting indicted so ... carry on.

I guess, still a strange and out of nowhere comment to make ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fair enough, but 15 years ain't shit when you're almost 56yo. That weirdness in 2008 is still very fresh in my mind. How old were you?
