I have a 4gb corona arcade system that I dropped a hard drive in and running games and homebrew from. I am on 17511 dash and want to update, but due to the flash memory being dead (i cannot format it), I am unable to update the nand. Is there a way to update the system to 17559 without bricking or losing my rgh?

maybe if you can dump the nand. I'm not really sure though. updating is now generally safe or should I say safer than it used to be. before, you'd have to choose your mobo, smc/hack type, so if you made a mistake - e79 usually or one blinking light - but now it gets all that info from a nand dump. if you can't dump the nand, I wouldn't risk it, but I'd wait until one of the 360 giants responds about this one before you try flashing the system. @DinohScene @brickmii82 @Donnie-Burger ?

I could've sworn there was a jumping point on the nand storage chip itself that can reset the controller, and then you can re-install the SMC. Best I can find is this from RealModScene. Have you tried hardware reading/dumping the nand? Just do the 48mb, not the whole thing if you can.

The hackfaq link is dead and I can't find the resistor Swizzy is talking about in the thread.

thanks for the replies guys. I was able to dump it without issue and it was the same every time. Pulled it from xell as well as 360 simple nand flasher. going through xell may work. Forgot you can update through there, otherwise I was trying to avoid opening it up and connecting a jrunner to it, but may have to do some hardware work.

I'm stuck on this too. Got a 4gb corona with dead NAND. Picoflasher says console not recognized. Is the conversion difficult? Or anyone got a link to how to do so? @DinohScene helppppppp! Also oh hai.

depending on the corona (ran into this issues on another system), You'll need to use an sd tool to actually read it. A buddy of mine happen to have it and we were able to get it going (as long as your nand is still functional).
Scroll down to step #3

One way to test if its 100% a corrupt nand is to try a system update - if it fail then its a corrupt nand and converting to 16mb is the fix.
yes that is one way to test. and it does fail the update. using a picoflasher is a reliable 2nd method as well, i trust my soldering skills with xbox 360.
