Hi !

I've been playing FF9 through Retroarch wonderfully on my macbook M1for 10h. I'm leaving for a travel next week and I dont want to start the game again from the beginnig so I decided to try to convert the save on my Mac and transfer it to the PSVita.

I tried EVERYTHING. Trust me, everything. I tried online converters (MCR to VMP), I tried softwares (Memcard Converter).

I can't figure out what I am doing wrong here.

I even tried Cwcheat, load the SLES09266-0.mcr but nothing works. I'm desesperate.

Anyone has any solution ?
Thanks !

Two utils can do it MemcardRex 1.9 or vita-mcr2vmp

Hi,

I dragged my .mcr file of FFIX (disc 2) on vita-mcr2vmp, it created a file called SLES(numberId).VMP.
I named it "SCEVM0.VMP and pasted it to the file in SAVEDATA/SLES02966 in PSPEMU on my vita, but did not work. The game does not find the save.

I 'm so lost...

Which disc are you trying to load on the PSP and which disc did you originally use in the emulator?

I would recommend just loading the memory card created by POPS in MemcardRex, then inserting your save into it if you are unsure. The memory cards are auto generated when the game is started.

My guess is that psp uses memory card images for psx instead of single saves.
Yes, they are. 2 memory cards (slot 1 and slot 2) are created for every game.

Might be able to hex it in. You'd need to create a save file to create the toc, then find the save (starts with SC in the text field), then go down a length of 0x2000 per block. That's assuming it's not doing something bizarre, but you can do this with mcr. Remember to skip the first SC, which will be the toc.

I'm trying to play the second disc on my Vita, same disc as on my mac emulator (retroarch, file in mcr).

Sorry, did not understand the "skip the first SC (?), which will be the toc (?).

Official PSN version or PSX2PSP converted?

Because the title ID for the official PSN version is NPEF00071.

Attach the save file to your post btw.

Thats probably the point...
I play with the official PSN version. But, cwcheat recognizes the ID of the game and CD running SLES-12965, which is the same ID that the rom I play on my Mac.

Should I convert FFIX roms one by one on a new PBP ?

No, that just means you're using the wrong save folder in SAVEDATA.

Make sure you're using the save folder automatically generated by the PS1 classic game on PSP, then inject YOUR save into that folder. Way less headaches like this.

EDIT: It looks like internally it creates the savedata based on whatever the game's ID is - Not the PS1 Classic ID like I was assuming it does.

This is exactly what I did.
Replaced the SCEVMC0.VMP file with my new converted mcr into VMP one.

I could take a look at it. Send me the mcr and the vmp with new save. I'll see if they're compatible.

Ok thanks, I'm uploading it wait. Thanks !

Here are the files. My MCR from the computer through Retroarch and the VMP one autocreated by the Vita. I want to continue my game (10h) on second disc.

THanks !

They're both empty - meaning they have no saves in them.

The mcr save is completely empty like it was just formatted.

The VMP save has some garbled data in it, but even putting in a proper save header the game just erases it as invalid.

Ok guys. I MADE IT.

Let me tell you what the problem was.
I just thought that I had to convert the initial .MCR savedata file from the Retroarch saves folder, because on the internet, everybody is telling that ppl have to convert MCR files into VMPs.
So, I ran the game and saved just to see if the mcr file got modified. And here we are: The date of modification of the MCR file did not move whereas the SRM one did. It means that the extension of Retroarch saves is not MCR, but SRM.
I modified the MCR file into an SRM one, converted it on a website save converter and replaced the old VMP data file withthr new one AND IT WORKS.

You guys were so kind and helpful, I made it thank to your observations and big help. Thank you again and again, I just saved 10 hours of my life, not starting the game from the beginning again.

Thank you again.
