You thought that was bad?
Microsoft is the king bloating their shit.
Very true. I was gonna say to use Linux, but there are still important programs that I use in Windows which cannot be done in Linux, because Wine is terrible at doing its job.

No, I mean it is a PIECE OF SHIT.
It's the EA of OSs.
and it's poorly coded like GNU.

ME was probably the worst OS MS put out in perspective... It did have one redeeming feature in my opinion though. IF you could get it work it was the first OS to feature system restore and if you messed up something in your configuration there was at least a chance system restore could get you back up and running without having to reinstall everything.

One of the things to keep in mind about Windows OS's... For the longest time Microsoft had two OS teams, Windows 95, Windows 98, ME, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10... They released on an alternating schedule and if you can tell every other OS was great, trash, great, trash and so on.

People don't like 95.

It's Windows-Only... palmOS, ibmOS, MacOS, iOS, and ChromeOS don't qualify.
Windows 98 was much worse imo. Crashed so frequently. Even crashed once on stage while being presented by Bill Gates.

Not sure what you mean by that at all lol. It's super well coded. At least the kernel itself is.

M.E. was like the absolute worst mash-up of 98SE and 2000 merged together. The UI was ugly as hell, so I don't know what you consider "improved" about it. Everything in M.E. was a downgrade. I stuck with 98SE until XP came out. Stuck with XP through the Vista era until 7. Stayed on 7 until the 8.1 brought the regular start menu back (Officially, and not using StartIsBack or whatever.) and now here I stay on Windows 10 on my main PC, and Win 11 on my laptop.

Fair enough. I never really used ME (I stuck with 98SE as well), but my understanding is it started the path on some of the UI improvements that later showed up in XP.

I’ll stick with disliking Vista more as it was easy enough to ignore ME. Vista was as broken and much harder to avoid.

"That's why we're not shipping Windows 98 yet."

But no, the version of Windows 98 they showed off is most likely a beta build where they still needed to fix a few bugs, like the one where they tried plugging in devices such as a scanner.
