So, are they going to call this effort Texit?

What's the plan though? Republic of Texas but without the republic part? Or with the level of voter disenfranchisement they want to create a Democratic Republic of Texas as Korea or Congo?

With how the US Government........and a good amount of People are in this Country, it is only a matter of time before the s*** hits the fan, and breaks down like no other. Especially with Rights getting messed with. You even saw it in the Super Bowl. That Ad or Presentation they did with the Veteran saying Rights we are "Allowed"???????? I swear our Rights were automatic. So it is Rights we are Allowed, now???? What happened to "We The People"???? Now it is, "We The Elite, Rich and Powerful"

The link in op just has an objective proposition for a referendum. It's nice to see some objectivity in what's undoubtedly a controversial topic, but it misses a bit of context.
Foremost: just how serious is this or how serious can this become?
I'm genuinely asking because my own neighbor-of-sorts suddenly held a similar referendum. Beforehand it barely made (belgian) local news, but... Well... We all know what happened.

As such, you'll forgive me in not joining the mocking. But i'll say this in all earnest: Texans have the right to have their voice heard. If they can convince enough of their locals to leave the us, then they have that right. The us isn't a prison.

I just hope for their sake they're better prepared. Whomever the 'they' are in this case.

It's known as "Texit" and it would make sense for the Lone Star State to be a country (Republic of Texas), as it was before it was a state.

Did you know you could drive for 12 hours and still be in Texas? That's how grand and great it is.

As for a currency, if there's a possibility to move on from the Dollar, that'd be good (because it's not doing well), but doubt in that case.

I'd be all for it as the U.S. govt is a joke and TX is strong enough to be a country individually.

See? Texas do suffer the same polarization problems that is affecting the rest of the USA (and half of the planet for that matter). If Texan people believe that an independence will make then a conservative heaven, well, they need to phase out democracy in the process, else it will still need to deal with divergent opinions on "morals and good manners" agenda.

Second problem is war. Independence without a war is kinda the exception.

Third problem is power projection. People often underestimate how important this is for the American economy. How the American power overseas influence the success and profit of its companies. This benefits all states, but will not after an eventual independence. Texas will never have the international power projection that USA have today (maybe no other nation will ever have it).

(they still will get a copyright strike on their flag, never forget that too)

Please let this happen
Minorities there will not disappear, but in a eventual independence they would suffer A LOT. So please don't let this happen.

They don't even have the infrastructure to handle snowstorms and hurricanes without the federal government. Texas would be a 3rd world country at the get go.

But I'm still for it because it means that Republicans lose the electoral college votes going forward and the vote of the people will actually be reflected on a federal level.

So apparently Texas wants to be a Independent Nation. This has come up so many times, with other States. Look what became of those attempts. LOL

What I don't get is if you Democrats hate Texas why are you worried if we want to leave the country. Shouldn't you applaud it? It would guarantee Democrats never lose another election, and guarantee the country falls into pure evil which is what you want for some reason. You were scared of World War 3 under Trump who actually never caused a single war, now under Biden you want it You are nothing if not hypocrites. Honestly you're just brainwashed and don't realize it. One day you will I guarantee it.

That's a strawman you made up and later believed to become true, as many MAGAs have also done.

And you MAGAs have no place calling anyone else brainwashed 🤣

If texas left the USA there would be many states that would end up following. Before long democratic states would be split from republican. People are tired of being ignored and instantly called names (on both sides). If this country dont come together soon it will end up coming apart. Maybe we need a big world war to get the people to forget their petty differences and come together for the country's greater good. Also need to eliminate all the politicians that are dividing this country and replace them with ones that have this countrys best interests at heart.
