PSP 3000 freezes when exiting PSP games using the PS button on ARK-4 with the Inferno Cache and Force Extra Memory settings set to Always

The PSP often freezes and sometimes turns off when exiting the european Spider-Man: Web of Shadows – Amazing Allies ISO using the PS button if setting ARK-4's "Force Extra Memory" to "Always" and "Inferno Cache" to "LRU".

Also, PS Vita's/PS TV's standalone ARK-4 often crashes in the boot, and when it doesn't, it frequently crashes with a C1-2858-3 error message when running PSP ISOs.

If crashing in the boot, ARK-4 says it will close in 10 seconds, and if I don't manually close it, ARK-4 crashes again with a C1-2858-3 error message.

I'm on HENkaku 3.60.

Maybe disable Inferno Cache, it's a feature from long ago before CSO readers were optimized, it's largely useless today that we have much better CSO reader and only consumes (lots of) extra RAM.

Also, don't force extra RAM unless really needed, it tends to mess with retail games and some plugins (specially cheat devices like cwcheat), most homebrews can handle it automatically without having to enable this feature. The only plugin that requires it that I know of is PRO Online.

Didn't you say you were going to ignore me?

Anyway, I don't have any CSO games (I only have ISO's) so "Inferno Cache" should be set to "Off", anyway.

I'll set "Force Extra Memory" to "Disabled" (I don't even have CWCheat), then.

Could you help me with PS Vita's/PS TV's standalone ARK-4's C1-2858-3 error message issue?

I don't have any CSO games (I only have ISO ones) but in that case I guess I should disable Inferno Cache, anyway.

I'll keep Force Extra Memory disable (I don't eve use cwcheat), then. What's PRO Online?

The kernel exploit for ps vita is unstable and crashes sometimes, the only thing you can do is reboot the system and try again. I'm sorry but I don't have plans on correcting this at the moment.

So, now you admit it actually has an issue? Now you even admit it in ARK-4's GitHub repository's instructions.

I find it odd that PS Vita's standalone ARK-4 was out in such a state and even weirder the developer assumes the issue but doesn't want to fix it in the near future.

Also, I still have this issue with the new FastARK version.

EDIT: Weird, now I'm not having issues with the european Spider-Man: Web of Shadows – Amazing Allies PSP ISO on PSP's ARK-4 if "Force Extra Memory" is set to "Always" and "Inferno Cache" to "LRU". I'll set "Force Extra Memory" to "Disabled" and "Inferno Cache" to "Off", anyway.

The Custom Launcher of the latest version doesn't show one of my games (at least) and they're not following an alphabetical order (when I already set it to show them like that) since there are games whose names begin with an "A" which appear last.

Check the settings, there was a recent change in the name of the config file for the launcher, making all settings go back to default.

Check the settings, there was a recent change in the name of the config file for the launcher, making all settings go back to default.

Is there a way to preserve XMB's Custom Firmware settings and Custom Launcher's settings every time a new version is out and the ARK_01234 folder is replaced or since they're tied to this folder which in turn is replaced, there isn't?

There's not much you can do, these things happen very rarely though.

Also, the european Spider-Man: Web of Shadows – Amazing Allies PSP ISO appears on the Custom Launcher but with an odd name and the PSP freezes when hovering or passing by it. If I run it from the XMB, I have the 80010016 error code.

Why does the Custom Launcher exist when games, DLC and homebrew can be accessed on the XMB?

For reasons I won't get to explain now, I will not work on the official PSPemu version of ARK. A better method will be available soon.

Because the XMB isn't available in official PSPemu, because it's easier to add features like file browser and FTP, and because a lot of people don't like the XMB. The custom launcher an work as either a replacement or an extension to the XMB, depending on your needs and tastes.

But I was having this problem on a previous release on both the XMB and the Custom Launcher until it was fixed so there's a regression and isn't it odd I don't have this problem on both the XMB and the Custom Launcher but only in the latter unlike before?

What is the official PSPemu? Just because the XMB wasn't available on the PSPemu it doesn't mean you had to create the Custom Launcher. Which features does the Custom Launcher have that the XMB doesn't?

Also, why does the Recovery Menu exist when its settings can be changed on the XMB?

EDIT: When running the european Tekken 6 PSP ISO, the PSP turns off even with all Recovery Menu and Custom Launcher settings set to default.

After copying ARK-4's latest version's ARK_01234 folder and running ARK Loader, I have this issue (which I also had on the PS Vita and PS TV).

Yes seems like one of the builds was messed up. Should be fixed now.

When will the issue on PS Vita's standalone ARK-4 be fixed? Does PSP's ARK-4's FTP server work? Does running Adrenaline's ARK-4 crash the PS Vita/PS TV like running PS Vita's standalone ARK-4? Why does the Recovery Menu exist on PSP's ARK-4 when its settings can be changed on the XMB?

EDIT: Now, when running ARK Loader on the PSP, it says ARK4.BIN wasn't found in the ARK_01234 folder and I no longer have CFW installed so I can't use PSP-FTPD, thus I'll have to connect the microSD card adapter which is breaking to the USB microSD card reader or use the PSP's USB cable. Also, when connecting the PSP to the PC's 2 USB 3.0 ports via USB cable, it keeps disconnecting as soon as I barely touch the PSP's USB cable, but not if I connect it to the remaining USB port, which is USB 2.0. I don't have this problem if I connect the PSP's USB cable to another PC's USB 3.0 (and USB 2.0) ports.

EDIT 2: After copying ARK-4's folders to the PSP using the latter's USB cable, I was able to run ARK Loader with no issues. Maybe PSP-FTPD has a problem.

EDIT 3: I used PSP-FTPD to upload a new ARK-4 version from the PC to the PSP and it worked again.

I replaced the "–" on Spider-Man: Web of Shadows – Amazing Allies with a "-" and I'm not having the previous problems (the game appearing on the Custom Launcher with an odd name, the PSP freezing when hovering or passing by it and the 80010016 error code appearing after running the game from the XMB). I had to use an USB cable to connect the PSP to the PC to change the game's name since nothing happened after I renamed it on ARK-4's "Files" and the game's name was too long for the "–" to even appear on FileZilla Client.

EDIT 2: Now I can run the previous game fine with the "–" again on the XMB and the PSP doesn't freeze when hovering and passing by it on the Custom Launcher but it still appears on it with an odd name so I'll replace the "–" in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows – Amazing Allies with a "-" again.
