The equivalent of a Zelda Direct is airing tomorrow. Nintendo has announced that they'll be uploading a video that features ten minutes of gameplay from the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with series producer Eiji Aonuma hosting. The video will go live on March 28 at 7am PT on Nintendo's official YouTube channel.

This is more like a big DLC, game seems to use ressources of BOTW...

Eh, yes and no. There have been several games in the past that have reused assets from older titles, though we can certainly debate whether some of those games really deserved the "new game" badge for what they were. For TOTK, I think it will ultimately come down to just how much of the game has changed at its core when compared to BOTW.

EDIT:
And yeah, kinda is looking to be more of an overpriced DLC, judging by what was showcased.

it's a direct sequel on the same system. why would they not use some existing resources from its prequel (and add more)? it looks to me that ToTK is almost 2x bigger than the first one, and with the amount of new content on it, I welcome it to be a separate game. and we all know it's gonna be high quality regardless.

I don't think I'll watch. Were so close to release that I'd rather stay as blind as possible.

By this logic, is Majora's Mask not just DLC for ocarina of time?

It's because of players like you that they are selling remakes and DLC like games for $60... Up your standards

Well, if it is still in Hyrule, framed in the same timelime, as a direct continuation of the first, it'd better be.

Like Halo, Gears of War, God of War, any sequel ever made has had some traits directly transitioned to itself from the original.

Its called continuity. Not a new concept, really. And makes perfect sense.

How is it not the same? Majora's Mask was developed in a year and reused most assets. Tears of the Kingdom was developed in 6 years and uses the same assets. I don't mind the argument that this game feels like an expansion, but you have to be consistent with your opinions.

If they are keeping weapons breaking, I hope add more incentives to use weapons. I imagine a crafting system to repair or enhance some weapons could be nice too.

People who are already hating on it because it looks like the previous game will hate it no matter what, it's always like that. Even if the game gives huge arguments for « not being a DLC », people will always cope and cherry pick some arguments to confirm what they've thought and said. If you really don't need anything to conclude that it feels like a DLC more than a sequel, then nothing will change your mind

Also, people will say that kind of stuff purely based on graphics. If it doesn't look different, then the game is not different. Doesn't matter if the game design is different, if the mechanics have changed or improved. You can improve whatever you want, if you don't change how the game looks, people will just say « it should have been DLC, it's the same game, it's lazy ». That's sad but that's bound to happen sadly.

People will lose their minds in a bad way. Nintendo is doing a sequel to a phenomenal game, it is an extremely hard task to do something as good as Breath of The Wild, and since it's is Nintendo the drama will put the internet on fire.
