More people would probably care if it was officially provided by Nintendo.
which would cause the costs to skyrocket.

Point is, it's only $90 because the userbase is basically tiny, maintainance and outages are a lot less than it would be for Nintendo to keep the servers running for an exponentially larger userbase.

Hackers made sure the only actually usable Wii online game was virtually unplayable way before those servers went down... besides they weren't using their own servers in the first place. They were using a third party company for their Wii online capabilities that went under around 2014.

Also pay developers for updates etc. Also B2B often costs a lot more than for a private person

Why people read everything in the universe under the light of money?

It's not just this thread, people keep saying "why don't they do this, do that, take my money or whatever"

Sega is the biggest victim of that. They already have trouble to move on from old stuff by themselves, and fans keep pushing them to the past direction.

I'd love for Sega to make a new Jet Set Radio game, but since they don't seem to have any intentions to, there's this:

Sega has so many incredible IPs and barely make use of them. Heck, many of the arcade exclusives could be ported to Consoles/PC now and do they? Doesn't seem so, so fans have to rely on emulation.

Sega response is:
"I see no changes, wake up in the morning and I ask myself
Is Sonic 1 Mega Drive version is worth re-releasin'? Should I blast myself?"

And yet, no one seemed bothered by the fact that they incorporated surveillance tech developed by the CIA into Pokemon Go.
