Nintendo expects the Switch to continue strong for the next few years, has "strong lineup" of upcoming games

dsdadsdsa.png

Doug Bowser, CEO of Nintendo of America, discussed the Nintendo Switch and plans for the future, in an interview with the Associated Press. Even though the Nintendo Switch is seven years old now, Bowser is confident that the console will continue to perform well, with Nintendo "feeling bullish" about sales. According to him, there's also a "very very strong lineup" of games coming soon, teasing that Nintendo will plan on supporting the Switch for years to come. Beyond that, when asked about whether or not Nintendo has a "Switch Pro" in the works, he simply responded with, "One of the things we look at always is how can we surprise and delight. How can we introduce new unique ways of playing. That´s always in front of our mind."

I should be careful about what I personally would like to see (in a new Switch). But what I can share is that one of the reasons that even going into year seven we feel very confident that the Switch can have a strong performance over the next few years is that it is still truly that unique device that you can play in a variety of ways, at home, on the go. One of the things we look at always is how can we surprise and delight. How can we introduce new unique ways of playing. That’s always in front of our mind.

You missed a big piece of Switch history. Every heard of SX?
SX mod chip? I thought that fusee gelee exploit made mod chip development more possible and happening after they got a lot of knowledge with Switch's hardware. Nintendo only patched the bootrom and they didn't bother with motherboard revision like they did with Wii many years ago.

I would be surprised if Nintendo opt to stay with Tegra and use same bootrom system to make mod chip very possible for next-gen console.

As for Switch, SX started with RCM loader and they went to develop the mod chip to get work with patched consoles.

My Switch is unpatched and I bought it quickly after learned about fusee gelee exploit in 2018.

Hardware will always be weak as it has recurring cost (cost some money for each unit you make) to protect it against attack.

I don't think that would help if Nintendo went with different CPU instead of Tegra, however no one know about next-gen of Nintendo consoles after all. The hackability of Switch was miracle because of fusee gelee exploit and if it wasn't for fusee gelee, Switch would be unhackable now like Xbox One.

PS5 and Xbox Series X are out, so you can enjoy their next-gen gaming.

The decision with next-gen isn't easy for Nintendo because of Wii U flopped and Nintendo doesn't want to repeat the mistake with Wii U. It appears that Nintendo is going stay with Switch for few years until next-gen console is finalized and ensure that they would be successful as Switch.

I never play pirated Switch games on my hacked Switch and I use CFW for cheating and save editing, that it.
Most of what I'd play on either Xbox or PS5 is on PC... Not really a good option for me...

I can see now.

I need to make a clarification with my post #169 - I was scared about next gen Nintendo console would be unhackable like Xbox One, however it wouldn't prevent me from buying next gen console for Mario games, especially Mario Kart.

The hackability of Switch enabled me to buy more games and use cheats, otherwise, I would be mostly PC gamer.

I'm PC gamer as well and not interested in PS5 nor Xbox Series.

There was reason that I bought PS4 because of exclusive first party games, but after Sony started to port their games to PC, I don't need PS5 at all.

unhackable like Xbox One,
It's probably a combination of Microsoft willing to pay to harden the hardware and it isn't that popular a console.

Lack of trying due to lack of motivation? Try just a bit then give up easily as the desire isn't that strong?

Yes, that what I remembered about some members in different forums said Xbox One is unhackable due to lack of motivation and lack of interest.

It went from popular Xbox 360 in mid to late 2000's to unpopular Xbox One nowadays, but I do think that forced Kinect, bad publicity about charge to play used games and lack of strong first party games weaken the Xbox One when compared to Xbox 360.

I wish that Nintendo would bought Rare long time ago.

The death blow was poor hardware performance. It is just weak and clearly visible when you look at the same title next to PS4

If you have both you would be a fool to not buy the PS4 version

Having only Xbox one would be sad and having bought Xbox one and PS4 would mean having a dead weight.

After a short while you would have learned that it is safe to just assume every game is better on PS4

Xbox one has been the ugly bride's mate to make PS4 looks like the princess.

Switch don't have that problem. It's the only tortoise around. When there is two hares and one is clearly faster than the other being the slow one is sad, does not matter that the slow hare is faster than the tortoise.

I went with PS4 on launch day when came out in 2013 and not impressed with Xbox One, but... I went to get Xbox One in 2014 because of Dead Rising 3 (stupid MS exclusivity) and didn't know it was timed exclusive because Capcom won't disclose about whichever permanent or timed exclusive, and wanted Forza Horizon 2 too. I sold unwanted Kinect after MS said Kinect is no longer required. After MS started to port more games to PC, so it was my farewell to Xbox One and sold it in 2016.

I used to be Sony fanboy in early 2000s when I bashed original Xbox badly, but I stopped and denounced about what I did when I was fanboy, so it was my stupid teen behavior at that time.

If there were no PS4 xbox one probably would be doing quite well. If they made Xbox series X runs Windows it would be a no-brainer to buy one.

You’re high as a kite if you think the GameCube could hold a candle to the Xbox in terms of any power.
Bigger GPU than CPU, smaller die size and about 1/3 of the heat emission - GCN was much more optimised, ran on completely different architecture and had a newer GPU design. Xbox had some pretty amazing games, but it wasn't capable of running RE4 - and they had to seriously scale that game down to get it running on PS2. Honestly, GCN and Xbox were comparable in power, with Xbox winning on paper, but GCN taking the crown in practice in some games.
Mind you, I'm not saying GCN could run Doom 3 or Halo 2, but Metroid Prime does look much better than Halo 2.
