That's true but I am more talking about sports like football, basketball, etc. Sports where someone like Shaq, Manute Bol, and
Yao Ming isn't considered unfair and no one debates if their massive presence puts others at a disadvantage.
In wheelchair basketball they address this exact same issue. Each team has to to formed by individuals which individual puntuation won't surpass a number and puntuation is assigned after through assessment or their disabilities. However, it would be difficult to do the same in regular sports with trans and cis women.

Question regarding T-blockers in women's sports. Correct me if any of my assumptions are wrong.

I'm assuming that because men naturally have higher levels of testosterone in their bodies, that additional doses of straight testosterone won't have much of an effect. That would be why the general scandals for male athletes are when they're caught taking steroids, or in a couple instances that I recall hearing of, taking doses of pure oxygen for short-term performance enhancement immediately before competing.

Because women have less natural levels of testosterone in their bodies, doses of straight testosterone would have a larger effect on the body and act as a similar performance enhancement as if they'd been taking steroids. The thing is, since it's only testosterone, the only thing to detect that foul play is underway would be unusually high levels of testosterone. Therefore, testosterone levels are regulated in women's sports because, even though it's not as obvious of cheating as actual steroids, it's still considered cheating in at least the same level as the aforementioned cases of taking doses of pure oxygen for better performance.

Is any part of this explanation incorrect? I want to make sure I'm understanding everything up to this point.

Both women and men can benefit from “additional doses of testosterone” (within reason), but since athletes are routinely tested, elevated levels would be immediately noticed. As such, there are other, more “permissible” methods of temporary performance enhancement. Many athletes collect their own blood over the course of their training and have it IV’d back into their bodies before a championship, this is a more long-term method of improving oxygen levels.

The real scandal is behind what's been posted.
The cyclist that won the tournament began it's transition process way ahead of being 40 years old.

In these cases where trans"women" are participating in women's competition there must be a full transition before puberty to be "fair" or in my opinion legit.

So, people who think trans women have an unfair advantage in sports must therefore be in favor of providing access to puberty blockers and hormone therapy to ensure that doesn't happen, right?

No, men (trans women) shouldn't be involved womens sports - end off story. If these men want to compete - they should either compete in mens sports or make up their own category. You can have mens/womens/disabled/trans. They way they won't be cheating.

That is the beauty of sports!!! It is epic to see Canadians, European, American athletes beating Caribbean and African athletes in the Olympics. True heroes they are. Having millions in sponsor money, expansive government funding, high tech training, food and supplements it is a total fair thing when competing against who grew up without having a shoe.

But for gbatemp the problem with sports are trans people. That's cheating! That is the true unfair advantage!

(and don't you dare to use a toilet when you need, toilets are the doom of mankind, let's nuke everything)

So transwomen participating in the women's category isn't inherently a problem in your view?
Yes and no.

If the person that won the competition was there, was because it was allowed in the first place, no?

But then I read that while it was "fine", turns out the person that won began transition well into iher 40s and competed against women in their 20s.

That too would be ok, except that, as far as I know, trans woman competing in women's sports must've completed their transition before puberty (or during puberty? which would actually be between 12 years of age up to 21/22 as not everybody is equal) and read that was a rule in women's sports.
For instance, this year I'm turning 30... but it seems I stopped growing in height at 28-ish, that is in height. So, in my case, I've stopped physical development at a very late age instead of reaching it at 21/22 when most people reaches end of adolescence.

As I've said, if trans people gets their own category of trans athletes, that could solve the "cheating" and any possibility of misjudgement or discrimination.

Why bringing up my case of still growing at 28?
Well, because I believe that, while people identifying as trans can do whatever the fuck theu want, we must accept that kids are probably not sure if they're trans/gay/lesbian/whatever yet, as the brain "stops development" at 22/25.
There's even been studies of people identifying as homosexual well into their 40s. In other words, defining their sexuality at a very late stage in their lives, so, trans category would give trans people a tolerance of development and a tolerance in time to complete their transition.

Why is this site allowing transphobia?
We don't live in communist China, we are allowed to discuss stuff in the west. You might assume that people that want to stand up for real women is something that hurts your feelings - however think of the poor "real" women that have trained their entire lives so they can be the best in the sports that they trained for - only to have that 1st place on the podium stolen from them by a man that pretends to be a woman. I bet their feelings are hurt more way more than yours when they see men ruining their sports.

Well you had transphobic posts yourself and you continue to be by saying 'pretend' and also implying that trans women are not 'real' women. You're not just ignorant about research and personal matters but inconsiderate when it comes to trans issues, but this type of talk actively harms trans people. And it's not hard to show, because all you have to do is replace what you said with racial issues instead, in example, and people would think twice about it being ok, knowing how much minorities are vulnerable. It's very complicated.

There are ways to talk on things while being respectful and not adding to an environment that's not just invalidating but growingly dangerous to trans people.

Some mods and admins should know what kind of issues it can cause and why it's also to protect the site as well. Not sure why this stuff is allowed to continue.

I live in the real world with facts, biological reality, common sense and logic - not the fantasy realm that you seem to be living in. I also won't pander to your "feelings", if you want to live in a fantasy world - crack on, just don't expect me or others to live in it with you because we never will no matter how much you whine about it.

I just kind of gave up on this place's community around the time blawar put hate speech in tinfoil and it wasn't seen as a very big deal, with the edgelord later removing it and swapping a menu with a big picture of Trump.

There's too much overlap with parts of the internet that are entirely ironically or unironically against trans rights.

Equating tans status to race is disrespectful. How one personally interprets their own sexuality and gender does not make them a minority. Nor does it oblige others to agree with one's reasoning and conclusions.

Gender is a social construct, like language is, created to communicate someone's sex and therefore physical predisposition within the context of society. I personally don't see the advantage of rebelling against the colloquialism, or outright rejecting it, especially when one wants to promote acceptance. It may be outdated to perceive things through the binary filter, but outright rejecting the past undermines the thing that gave you existence.

As gender is a social construct, transgenderism is a behavior--not an inherited physical trait for which someone has no control over.
