Valve has lifted the lid on the rumoured upcoming Counter Strike 2, announcing the game will arrive this summer as a free upgrade to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The game will run on Valve's in-house Source 2 engine and will include upgraded, overhauled maps and in-game items from the original, alongside a slew of gameplay improvements and additions including tick rate independent multiplayer.

A Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test will also begin today for selected CS:GO players.

Okay, I stopped the video to comment as soon as I saw that HE grenade clear up the fog, allowing the guy to perform a sweet dunk. Fuck yeah, interactive volumetric smoke. It might seem like a small change, but this affects the meta big time.

Side note, originally came to whinge about the naming scheme, because this is not “Counter Strike 2”, we already had that and it was called Condition Zero.

I don’t know why, but this entire time I’ve been under the impression that CS:GO was technically CS2. Not sure where I got that idea in my head

Honestly I dont. It will never live up to the hype and its been way to long
Sure, but Half Alyx was pretty damn hype and it exceeded all expectations (well, mine at least). Valve still knows how to make amazing games even if they don't show it often.

That said, I'd rather have a meh HL game every couple of years rather than one amazing game every couple of decades.

Emphasis on expensive.

Paying $1200 for a glorified monitor and controller for one game hurts, no matter how you try to rationalize it. And oculus stopped mattering the moment zuck bought into it.
well tbh you could just rent a VR headset for two weeks for what, 30-40 bucks at most and play the game

This was kinda sorta known since last year. Fans took it upon themselves to remake CS:S & TF:2 in Source 2. Valve reached out and asked nicely if they would stop the CS:S remake (TBC there was no C&D or nasty threatening lawyers or anything like that) but didn't mention the TF:2 remake at all. Work is still ongoing for Team Fortress 2 in case anybody was wondering.

No the eff you can't. And even if you physically could, I'm not prepared to risk literal eye cancer from a secondhand unit worn by a slob getting passed onto me that way.

Even what few places I can find that cater to VR entertainment will not have a means to play half life alyx. At best they might have some glorified phone game on them.

well where I am, I can. Easily.

Also, cancer is not transmissible.

Your option would be to just buy a new VR headset, play the game, and then sell it again.

I absolutely would not wear a VR headset worn by an army of strangers before. Heck, I wouldn’t wear headphones worn by somebody else before - the rental place can keep that “old mate’s gold” to themselves. Cancer is obvious hyperbole, pinkeye isn’t. A lot of people don’t wash their hands after going to the bathroom, and the Venn diagram of people who don’t wash their hands and people who rent VR sets is a perfect circle.

They need to call it something else and be clear about the project, so maybe people will not hope it's something it's not meant to be. Be a bit more transparent about the development and stuff, so we know how it was canceled, how they are giving it another go, and what it is meant to be.

Metroid Dread did pretty fine by announcing it a few months before it's release, but I don't trust Valve to be secretive like Nintendo, and if people start to datamine stuff about a Half Life 2 sequel, they'll get crazy. So it's better for Gabe to come out and say « we're developing a sequel to the story of Half Life and here's what you can expect », in my humble opinion

Half Life Alyx is very great and considering the kind of ending it has, it would be weird to just ... not do anything

Looks like it's an s&box gamemode, so we shall see when s&box will get a public release. Can't wait for it tbh

I like electronics that use detachable cables, that way if the cable breaks you can just swap in a new one instead of replacing the whole unit

the L hdmi adapters work great on my tv and receiver. so much less stress on the ports using them than regular cables. in that instance anyway.

i dont know why tv manufactures put the hdmi ports in dumb locations so the cables have to stick out, and then down, putting stran on the ports. Instead of having the porrs along the bottom edge of the tv facing downwards.
