I know, but again.

Heading to Gamebanana you can find way better tracks there.

I am wondering if this is more the result of carrying over stuff from CTGP cafe.

Like, if it is in the spirit of continuing CTGP Cafe's work.

It's just, I don't think you have to carry everything over from what in the end was a somewhat messy and incomplete modpack...?

Because then your modpack is going to feel messy too?

Like, this modpack has 2 figure 8 circuits/tracks, did anyone else notice that?

I don't know... I am gonna head to bed now...
Trust me, when the version currently available of this modpack was first released, this really was all the courses that were available at that time (hence why some Tour courses have all 3 laps as separate races, I was struggling to fill all 104 available extra courses at that time).

Having said that, the next version with working music will have a best of all available courses selection instead of only what was available as many additional better courses have released in that time. And then I intend to release a second tour version to cover all the other courses that weren't good enough for the initial 104 courses in the main release.

Thing is this has all been explained throughout the thread, that's why your initial post really annoyed me. There will be another version, but I'm taking my time and working on it when I have the time, so don't go expecting it tomorrow, maybe later in the summer if my time frees up enough.
Post automatically merged:

Wow, you took that super badly. Never take shit personally on the internet.

All I did was provide some fair (you can't possibly look at some of the tracks and tell me I am wrong) constructive feedback, a good chunk of the CTs are not good (one of them even crashed my system).

My question is: Were there no better CTs to pick from?

If that is the case then the problem doesn't lie with you or your mod, but with the lack of good quality tracks.

And the file host thing was just a suggestion, whatever service you are using (idk because the URL is shortened) is not good for downloading big files and affects the overall user experience.

Also, demanding gratitute from people is also a sign of entitlement. The Pot Calling The Kettle Black.

It's like if I went "Hey, your hack sucks ass. You have to change this and you should start now, you can thank me later"

That is not even close to what I did.

I simply made some suggestions as an user who likes the idea but wants to some improvements.

C'mon, not even you can deny CTGP has very good CTs. You'd have to admit to being blind first.

Also, I am pretty sure Dolphin has riivolution support now...? So you can play CTGP on your PC now if you want.

I don't like that you need a disc to play on real hardware, I have always been against that shit, but you can't deny CTGP's overall quality.
Wow, this all just reinforces how entitled you initially came across. I stand by initial response to you wholeheartedly.

As someone who has left the mk8 modding scene I can agree with the statement of this being a drag, drop and play collection of the best custom tracks available on gamebanana or anywhere else.

All Mika has done is put them together in a pack, he didn't create any of the courses and I believe tested them as best he could (on real hardware) before putting it out there. I can appreciate the effort put into that alone as I have tried many tracks which looked like they had potential but were total unfinished messes.

It's a very lengthy process and unfortunately a good few of the best tracks out there have this flaw also, hell multiplayer is a no go on 99 percent of them due to lag so to berate the curator over how they handle is misguided I'm afraid.

Asking questions on further releases is all fine however he has said multiple times in this thread what his vision is and the difficulties faced in achieving it. I for one appreciate the time and effort and trust his judgement on whatever he manages to accomplish.

I'd like to see a "best of" release with the ultimate track selection. Sometimes too many choices is off putting.

Appreciate the effort though. Wish we could do the same with F Zero GX.

Just want to put it out there that MK8U is, as best I can tell, the only active modpack for Mario Kart 8. Yes, Generations is coming soon, and I'll be curious to see how it turns out, but in terms of what you can use today, this is it! CTGP-8 has been scrubbed from the internet, and CTGP-U hasn't been updated for several years.

I came into this after having a great time with Wii modding and I wanted to see what MK8 was like. I'm sure there are lots of great tracks on GameBanana but I wasn't going to sink the hours needed into working out SDCafiine and how to properly arrange the files and which tracks can replace what. I don't have the attention span for that.

I think Mika deserves mad props for being the person who has actually put that time in and picked out tracks and arranged them so that they're all playable; and so that we can just download a zip and have things Work. I definitely would not have tried modded MK8 at all if this pack wasn't available; the age and dramatic history of the older packs still turns me off trying them. So, thanks for that!
It never existed if it can't be found online. There's no such thing as "scrubbed from the internet". Once it is online, it's forever.
From what I can gather it never even came out. 2017 had one or two vague posts from Wiimm about CTGP-8 being worked on and nothing happened.

Oh there was absolutely a CTGP-8 as well as CTGP-Cafe (which is likely what Quark is referencing with CTGP-U). CTGP-8 was just a standard modpack that replaced every course with custom tracks, it didn't expand the course selection. It quickly disappeared though as it really wasn't anything all that special. CTGP-Cafe was also released and is what this modpack was built off of, it's the real hero here that was able to properly expand the course count. But make no mistake, both absolutely existed and both were available at some point (I would know as I downloaded both of them back in their days).

I checked and I was actually thinking of Cafe, my bad. Sure you can find all the old pages on Wayback and there's lots of forum threads talking about it but the number of people even in this thread trying to work out where the downloads are says a lot about it.

The internet is forever - you can't act like CTGP-Cafe never existed, but also surprisingly lossy sometimes. Discords vanish, Wayback misses links, MEGA uploads die.

CTGP-U existed as well! we're now up to three seperate dead CTGP variants for Wii U, if anyone's counting. https://mk8.tockdom.com/wiki/CTGP-U

Oh maybe I have it slightly backwards, U was real but 8 was actually Cafe? There were definitely at least 2 CTGPs for Wii U. But I wouldn't doubt you that there may have even been 3 at that.

There's been 2 CTGPs, it's just that CTGP Café went thru a name change at some point, I am pretty sure (it was called something else before)

Hence the confusion

But it's still just 2

CTGP-U (Very old) and CTPG Café (Most recent)

If it existed, Google searches would yield something more than Wiimm showing very basic things off under its name.

Precisely---the internet is forever. The fact that you can't find anything about "CTGP-8" from any number of searches beyond very vague references to things maybe being added to a project with that name is telling enough that it never existed in any public capacity.

MEGA uploads do indeed die---it's also a completely garbage service riddled with spyware, needing specific plugins, and has wonky speed limits, but I digress...

Wayback does miss links but you can force it to archive things, which anyone who cares about at least one other person using a project they made will do...

Don't know what to tell you, I still have the files for 2 separate CTGP projects on Wii U, remember both of them clear as day, one hosted on GameBanana which I believe has since been removed by the creator, and the other that this modpack is based on had its own site and discord, but the creator disappeared along with his site and discord. Sorry you can't find one of them, but they both absolutely existed.

This is cool and all but if I ever decide to do a mod to MK8 on Wii U I just want it to be like MK 8: Deluxe on Switch, nothing more or less.
There are modpacks that try to approximate that, but we'll never see it 1 to 1. Double item boxes and the ability to hold 2 items at once will never happen, Tour courses that had different laps can at best be ported as one of the same laps all 3 times, and while I wouldn't say it's impossible, I wouldn't hold your breath on a character expansion.

At this point an approximation is better than nothing. It will take a miracle to get me to buy MK8 on Switch. MK8 was my first Wii U purchase.

Find? I put all these mods together myself and even made most of the UI/flair changes myself. Granted I didn't make all the models or anything, that's why graphics are of varying quality, but I think the hard work of all the modders here still looks great overall.
I want to thank you for all your hard work! I am having a blast with all these new tracks. I hope you will add new tracks soon. Thank you very much!

Nope. It involves installing CTGP first which always crashes.
I was in the same situation earlier and realized installing CPGP Café (especifically overwritting Turbo.rpx from the code folder) always crashes on CEMU 2.0-experimental but works on Cemu 1.26.2 stable. The other issue is on the instructions provided, the "cut the course folder and paste it in MK8's update folder" is confusing and people getting crashes when loading courses probably cut into the root of the update, while you're actually supposed to cut into the contents folder of the update, which will merge with an existing one.

Haven't really messed with it other than checking if a couple tracks work tho.

@MikaDubbz unsure if anyone got this working on Aroma just want to let you know I do have it working and works great if you want to add a tut for aroma users who have SDcafiine plugin
This is assuming you had it for CBHC or Tiramisu

the method is a little complicated

1st move SDcafiine from root to wiiU/SDcafiine

2nd inside that you will have title ID and vol folder
for MK8 ultimate cut your vol folder and place it inside the Title ID

Game should now

Update so I finally got it working but the extra tracks aren't working. In aroma and unsure how to fix that but looking into it.

I think for aroma we will need a plugin loader as SDcafiine on its own won't load the extra tracks.

Hi all, first of all thanks for this great mod and all the work you put in here.
Unfortunately I am very confused on what I have to put in which folder.
I just migrated to Aroma and all I have is a plugin now which is sdcafiine.wps.
There is not sdcafine folder in the root or so ever.
I downloaded the files and I am struggeling now where to put what. On top I am running the European Pal version of the game.
I understand that I have to put this "Put in root folder for EUR version" in the root. So that will be the "mk8uloader" in the root then.
But were do I have to put the other folders as I don't have an elf. version of sdcafiine?
As the mk8uloader is in the root, do I still have to rename the folders of the other downloads?
Overall it is a little bit confusing even thoug I read through this chat.
Thanks for any help

mk8loader doesn’t work with Aroma as it’s using a legacy .elf format that Aroma doesn’t support. Simple as that, sadly.
