A simple mod with a lot of bugs quickly turned in to a lot more once I realized I had permanently modded the save in the same way I had intended to do the game.

Enclosed is a save file that will run on any vanilla US version of Twisted Metal Head On for the PSP. Once you go to story mode, you'll see a save for Tower Tooth at LA. I can't unfortunately save the game at Big Blue Stadium, but the video below should allow one to get the basic idea of this mod:

I started off by first modding the ISO, (I own the game, don't worry!) to copy Tower Tooth's files over Twister. This... had undesired results, as doing so for some reason makes him take on the host character's special ability, as you can see in the video below. HOWEVER, playing a story file from that ISO, (or any other mode for that matter) still causes the game to recognize that you're playing as TT, and thus, will load the REAL TT once you quit and go back to a vanilla game.

On one final not guys, since I know very little of hex editing or creating NitePR/CoderPR/Action Replay codes, if anyone could decompile this save and find out what the game is doing to load TT, I might be able to make him fully playable in all the other game modes as well even in a vanilla game!

Enjoy everyone! :)

NOTE: upon completing story mode, the game will crash. Do not be alarmed, just reset your PSP. Simply put; it does this because Tower Tooth does not have an ending movie and the game doesn't know what to do next. :P

the decompiled save data is usually stored in the game ram (the complete SDDATA.BIN file), it should be at the end (for most games, and probably static), if you can find some of the header using cwcheat or your favourite cheat engine, you can make a simple code to change the value to play with tooth, and even to make some condition to avoid freezes and such bugs to appear during or at the end of the story.

Right... when I say very little, I mean absolutely nothing. :P

That being said, I was hoping to have him selectable from the menu somehow. This can be achieved easily by swapping his files with other drivers, but other than that, I'm pretty much at a loss.

indeed you need some file swap here to make him selectable.

Well that's what I did initially. That wasn't hard. Just swap Twister, (or any vehicle's) "PSPCARS" file with that of Tower Tooth, (DARK2.BDD). However the oddly unfortunate result of that is that he takes on the special ability of whoever he's been swapped with. I have no idea how that's possible unless the special is linked to another file.

However the game still recognizes that you're playing as TT. Using the modded iso in Challenge and Endurance mode will set all the records as Tower Tooth, and the game will load the ACTUAL TT in story mode once you save and quit, hence the vanilla compatible save data.

Can someone do a mod that fix Cousin Eddy missile machine gun in this psp version?
because his missile machine gun dont home the targets in this psp version and i know in ps2 version his missile machine gun home the targets, but the psp version is better than ps2 in my opinion. (a example is in fact Tower Tooth's 2nd special weapon is more strong in psp version). if someone could fix cousin eddy missile machine gun to home the targets will be great.
