they did not explain why the game is 69.99 lol
It's called inflation

$73 today is worth as much as $60 in 2017

Actually $70 is a discount - you are effectively paying less money than you paid for BOTW in 2017 - for the same value they should have charged $73

Ditto with wages - wages have increased 27% in that period - by wage inflation the price should be $76

All prices must change - it's why a coke isn't 5c any more - you can't continue to charge the same thing forever or your revenue will be entirely eaten by inflation

You can pretend inflation doesn't exist, and get mad when the price of eggs go up, or the price of bread goes up. But you're just ignoring reality

Remember Nintendo was working with a company to block game dumps from being emulated? Wonder if this is the first one to utilize the technology? (Hence the aggressively tone dead price)

lol everyone else has matched price to inflation, it had to happen eventually

it's not like they will be offering $60 games in 2100 - people will be mad no matter when they do it

I think they decided now to match inflation because they know this game will sell millions of copies for years to come

I wish they didn't show this and ended the direct with a zelda direct on march or something,it doesn't show that much to actually buy the sequel and also it cost 70$ now so yeah I'm having sonic frontiers vibes of bad marketing with this game

Oh well the trailer is also dubbed on multiple languages so no delays anymore

Seems a bit like it'll be what Majora's Mask was to Ocarina of Time. Same core game with some additional systems added on. I'm guessing it'll change less than MM did though. Either way, I'm looking forward to it!
The sidequests are what made Majora's Mask so great though. Collecting the masks was fun, and since each one had a unique ability, with some of them being required to progress other sidequests, each one felt worth it.
Even though Majora's Mask's story was short, that paired with the all-new world made it feel like a brand new game.
Tears of the Kingdom doesn't appear to have a brand new world, and the sidequests in BotW didn't seem worth it for the most part, most of them didn't give you anything unique, you only got a few spirit orbs out of it and some not that useful armor, so I'm not expecting this to be any better there either.
So I don't think it can be compared to Majora's Mask at all. Majora's Mask was everything this isn't. The engine was pretty much the only thing it had in common with OoT.
Too early to say for sure, but there is every indication that this will not be anything like what Majora's Mask was to OoT. It'll just be more of the same, with little significant improvements or changes to speak of.
I was really hyped for BotW, I'm a lot less hyped for this, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it nonetheless. I was really hoping it would fuse the old with the new, and bring back the unique obtainable items you get in dungeons (and sometimes out of dungeons), but seeing Link shield surfing on railroad tracks makes me pretty sure they're not gonna do that.
Although, they could give you a new Sheikah Slate ability in each dungeon, instead of giving you all of them at the beginning. That actually wouldn't be a bad idea, and would be pretty similar to how the unique items in dungeons worked before. And more abilities = more fun. I definitely saw one new ability in that trailer (not sure how it works yet), so I hope there's a bunch more.

"Nintendo is not involved in the new Switch DRM initiative and that it was developed in response to demand from existing clients."

Hmm, seems it was 3rd party clients who were interested - no official nintendo involvement

Doubt nintendo would sacrifice performance on an already taxing title for this
See that's what I thought but this quote here completly throws Nintendo not being involved out the window:

"They also confirmed the DRM would restrict use of legally purchased games with Switch emulators on PC"

Hopefully this one has real dungeons..and maybe weapons not made of glass. I wouldn’t mind them if I could upgrade one I liked to a level of “invincibility”!

Yeah but the article makes it sound like it's for restricting 3rd party switch games
