Nintendo have announced an upcoming Nintendo Direct that is scheduled to be 40 minutes long mostly focused on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2023.

Rumours have been circulating that a February 10th release date for the ill-fated Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp may be announced. What do you think?

Also, do you think we'll get a new look at The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that is scheduled to launch on May 12? Or will be looking at a delay announcement?

The Direct is scheduled for:
  • 2pm PST
  • 5pm EST
  • 22:00 GMT/UTC

Yeah.... NO! Let's not try to justify the 70 dollar price point.
Why not? Should we pretend it's not fair because we want to pay less?

$60 today is $52 in 2017

So was $60 unfair in 2017 also? Should we have asked for $50 and got mad when they didn't provide it at that price?

Should we be mad when we pay $1 for a coke when they used to be 5 cents?

The biggest problem here is that our money today doesn’t go as far as it did in 2017…

Granted, we’re talking about luxury (want v. need) and whether or not it is justifiably more costly. I don’t agree with the $70 price, but I also don’t think they’ll add enough substance to make spending that much worth it. Even $60 is harder to spend because of that reason… Dunno.

According to leaked eShop screenshots, yes. 70 for a game with "last gen" graphics. What ever happened to appropriate price for appropriate graphics? If you're gonna be a generation behind then you should charge 10 dollars less. Nintendo had it right with the Wii and screwed up pricing with Wii U. Besides, I thought this whole stay a gen behind strategy was to lower the price of development yet I see that the customer is still getting screwed.

Feels like both Gaming and TV are starting to become dead forms of media. 😞
price has never been tied to graphics

Think of it this way

there is an inherent worth to things, but the value of cash is falling all the time
so to keep a fair price, the price has to go up

if for instance you could buy a game by barter - trading sandwiches or precious metals - the price or exchange rate would probably never really change
The ratio of sandwich to game hasn't really changed over the past 10 years
but because our money is not tied to a commodity and freely floats - the value changes constantly - and because the inherent value changes the price of goods must change too

It goes both ways, yes nintendo asks more for the game, just as we ask more for salary at work
the median wage in 2022 was $56,420, in 2017 it was $44,408. That's a 27% increase
If the price of games increased by 27% they would be $76 now, but they are $70 - meaning you are still getting a discount (because everyone is making more money now)

As a business, Nintendo don't care one bit about a record like that. They care about profits (as they should).
They would never make any business decisions based on whether or not to go for a record.
Well, I was conflating them as one and the same in this case. I wasn't trying to imply that they will sink their profits to do so, but I'm sure some are pleased with all the record breaking they are doing.

I'd agree but i feel that the fall in value of cash is also proportional to the fall in quality of games nowadays. So in the end, the price should remain the same. I dont mind paying more, but I can barely justify paying current prices for some of the games that come out (especially at launch)

So my original golden sun cartridges are not a construct of my imagination? Camelot actually did a game for nintendo in the Game Boy Advance?

Is Nintendo acknowledging golden sun exists to some extent? Is this the end of the world?
