Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online

Those that subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online will be able to play Game Boy games on their Switch, later today. Tetris, Super Mario Land 2, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, Gargoyle's Quest, Game & Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Metroid II, Wario Land 3 and Kirby's Dreamland will all be available. You can use various filters to mimic the look of various versions of Game Boy. Online play is supported, too.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, Ages, Pokemon: TCG, Kirby's Tilt and Tumble, and more are on the way later.

GBA games can be played by those who are a part of the NSO Expansion Pack. Those games today are, Super Mario Advance 4, WarioWare Inc., Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, and Zelda: The Minish Cap. Games like Metroid: Fusion, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, F-Zero Maximum Velocity, Fire Emblem, and Golden Sun will come later.

Hey, they actually acknowledged the GBA exists again!

I guess I shouldn't comment too much here because I have neither Switch nor NSO. But it looks like a nice selection of games to start with. Frustrating how they're locking the GBA games behind the Expansion's paywall but I guess the money-leeching is to be expected. Hopefully they keep adding games, it feels like the GB/C/A libraries have always gotten a lot less love than the NES and SNES.

Time to... keep playing with my EZ-Flash.

Fuck yeah Kuru Kuru Kururin. I loved that game!
The day I discovered it had a Japan only sequel was a great day, I suddenly had loads more Kuru to play!

(Also god damn that's an unfortunate name if you want to abbreviate it)

Ironically, GBA is better on the last three generations of Nintendo handhelds (because native) than this will be, no matter how sparkly they present it.
While mostly true, they implemented multiplayer, something those last generations couldn't do w/ GBA natively. That is a value add.

So we saw Kirby Tilt n Tumble, now it would be great if Gameboy camera was also supported then add support for print lol. Although I literally already do that with pizza boy emulator on my 14inch tablet. I guess if we get Kirby Tilt n Tumble, we'd get Warioware twisted too.

Is that kuru kuru kururin game really popular? I bought it as a GBA cover for my GBA (that's used as a controller) and I didn't like it.

Ah yes, the games everybody has been emulating on their phones since 2005, if not before. Should've been available at Switch's launch, and with a much larger library.
At the bare minimum they shouldn’t the force the expansion for GBA….

I have NSO with the expansion pass and I'm still going to continue to use my EZ Flash. I have 3 kids, 3 close friends and a wife so the family pass was a decent enough deal for me. My son loves playing N64 on his Switch Lite, and will love playing thr Zelda GB games as well.

yay, here is me......not really caring because I have a whole slew of ways to play these games and then some. Give me Pokemon gens 1 thru 3 with proper online connectivity, none of this "Local Only" stuff the 3DS had, and then i might care more.
