40min Nintendo Direct announced for February 8th

FoXoB-RacAEXDeX.jpg
Nintendo have announced an upcoming Nintendo Direct that is scheduled to be 40 minutes long mostly focused on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2023.

Rumours have been circulating that a February 10th release date for the ill-fated Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp may be announced. What do you think?

Also, do you think we'll get a new look at The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that is scheduled to launch on May 12? Or will be looking at a delay announcement?

The Direct is scheduled for:
  • 2pm PST
  • 5pm EST
  • 22:00 GMT/UTC
Why not join the official GBAtemp Discord channel and watch and discuss the show live with other GBAtemp members?

Thank god,

Portendo has really been slacking

There are at least 2-3 more Wii U games they can milk in this direct

We have all been dying for the switch port of Starfox Zero and Game and Wario

I'm hoping we'll get a traditional Zelda game - a game that actually feels like Zelda, that is fun to play instead of a boring, frustrating chore - after TotK is out; the last new one was A Link Between Worlds, which is almost a decade old now. This experimental open-world format has run its course; let's return to form, please.
A TotK delay would just delay a potential traditional game more, so ironically enough I do want that game released asap.

Advance Wars...I did try the GBA original a while ago, but it's just not as engaging as Fire Emblem. I would like it to finally be out, but that's so it's finally available for those who do want to play it, not for me personally - dev hell is never a good place.

This Direct is gonna suck. Nintendo is already back to their old ways. At least when Sony and Microsoft go through a console transition, they pile on the games so that their base can either keep enjoying the current product or have a smooth move. Nintendo has this really bad habit of making a swan song game and then going, "that's all folks". Looks like Tears is the swan song and then nothing for the second half. Seriously?! WTF?! Some companies never learn.
Have you been thinking like this the whole time during the Switch era?

Hoping for the remasters/remake of:
The Last Story
Xenoblade X
Kid Icarus Uprising

Nintendo could be announcing a new hardware - simply because no one is expecting it. Nintendo likes to do things like that.
hopefully,.. but its nearly imposible atm

kinda tired with old hardware, just wanna play same game but with true 720p/1080 60 fps

The Last Story - would be a damn miracle. I'll keep enjoying and playing the Wii version online. I don't buy remakes unless it's substantial like Crash and Spyro.

Xenoblade X - Another Wii U port. Unlike most, I didn't trash my Wii U, "cause Switch"

Kid Icarus Uprising - It's only a rumor and I also have my 3DS. Rather play my copy of this game in glasses-less 3D.

At this point, I'm in no rush to grab Tears unless it has VR mode like BOTW. Only game on Switch that would have had my attention is AEW Fight Forever but I'm buying that for my Steam Deck, "cause mods". Would have picked up Blanc for the Mrs on Valentine's day but it's not coming to physical. That means I'll just make my own physical copy for Steam Deck. At this rate, this year will be "backlog year" for my Switch. I still need to grab Bayonetta 3 so there's that.

nintendo direct will feature a surprise release for tears of the kingdom on february 14th allowing for last minute pre-orders for 1 week. and people who do get in their pre-orders will get a special bonus multiplayer which they inexplicably wont allow anyone else to have. for reasons.

Who cares, Steam Next Fest lets you actually play games + Nintendo's EULA stole our rights + $70 Zelda game (on aging hardware no less, not that $70 for current gen games is ok either)

Don't think I've ever seen a Direct that didn't have something I'd be a bit excited about.

Must admit my biggest wish right now would probably be Metroid Prime Trilogy news...

Just saw the $70 Zelda bullshit. Yeah....screw Nintendo. This year I'll just grab the last few physical Switch games I'm interested and then it's all-in with my Steam Deck. Outside of Pikmin 4, Switch is a dead platform now.

Do you mean they are asking $70 for the new Zelda game?

While I don't think it will go pass 2024, I can totally see them delaying the next console, just to see if they can beat the ps2 sales.
As a business, Nintendo don't care one bit about a record like that. They care about profits (as they should).
They would never make any business decisions based on whether or not to go for a record.

According to leaked eShop screenshots, yes. 70 for a game with "last gen" graphics. What ever happened to appropriate price for appropriate graphics? If you're gonna be a generation behind then you should charge 10 dollars less. Nintendo had it right with the Wii and screwed up pricing with Wii U. Besides, I thought this whole stay a gen behind strategy was to lower the price of development yet I see that the customer is still getting screwed.

Feels like both Gaming and TV are starting to become dead forms of media. 😞

$60 in 2017 is $73 today

so actually we are paying less than we did for BOTW, an appropriate price for this game should be $73

Can’t imagine this Direct will be anything worthwhile… How long has it been since we had one that gave us something good? Nintendo is lacking something these days. When the Switch was announced, I was pretty hyped. A hybrid (tablet w/ included dock) home console that could have been a portal to everything great about Nintendo… It’s still just a console dedicated to porting older titles and the new ones leave a lot to be desired. Super Mario Odyssey 2 would be a fine announcement, especially considering TotK isn’t appealing to me. It still boggles my mind how anybody thought BotW was better than just “okay”.
