PS3 freezes as soon as I click on Enable FTP on Evilnat 4.89.3 with an external HDD attached

Well it doesn't mean it won't run at all, you can't expect all PS2 games to run on every model of ps2. Beside it is a wiki page, it is edited by everyday people like me and you.

In my opinion they should work in all PS2s and I already confirmed in other sites those PS2 games aren't compatible with all the PS2s.

Anyway, what would happen if those supposedly incompatible games were played on those PS2s with OPL and POPStarter?

According to the list I showed you, not all PS2 games work on all PS2 models. That's precisely my point.
Depends on which slim you have. The SCPH-70011/70012/70001 models have the same compatability as all the previous "fat" PS2 models did. But the SCPH-75001 does indeed have a list of about a dozen games that no longer worked on that specific model. (Or had some minor graphical glitches....)

The only game that as far as I know doesn't work at all with a slim is Final Fantasy XI (because of the missing hard drive)

Is the new Evilnat version (4.89.3) really compatible with all PS2 games like it's stated? In that case, are PS2 CONFIG Database and the PS2 Classics Emulator Compatibility List redundant?
"Full PS2 Games Compatibility" is a bit overhyped.

PS2 compatibility is not "full". It is "good" if you use the PS2 CONFIG database. Without the configs, it would be "okay".
BTW there are games with issues even on consoles with full backward compatibility.
In general, it always makes the most sense to play games on the hardware they were made for :teach:

What happens if running those PS2 games on OPL in those PS2s?

Is the PS2 game compatibility higher with PS2CONFIG installed on the PS3 than on OPL's latest Beta release on the PS2?

Then I don't get it why it's said those consoles have full backward compatibility.

But that's precisely my point, since I was talking about playing PS2 games on the PS2 and even so some of them have issues.

What happens if running those PS2 games in those PS2 models uding OPL?

Is the compatibility better with PS2 CONFIG Database installed than OPL'S latest beta release?
1. It just won't work or will display an error code or something similar (graphical glitches, etc.).
2. The ps2 config on the PS3 should not necessarily be compared with OPL on the PS2 (these are different things).

On a PS3 you should always install the config to get the best possible result .........but OPL on a PS2 (preferably FAT) is better

I guess an error message may appear or something like that if playing PS1 and PS2 games with issues on a PS2 using POPStarter and OPL.

I suppose one may also have an error code displayed or something like that if playing the PS1 games with issues on a PS2 using POPStarter and the PS1 games and PS2 games with issues on a PS3 with CFW and PS2 CONFIG Database installed.
Either something like an error message or it just doesn't start (black screen, return to xmb etc.).

I've never used Popstarter myself because the compatibility is said to be pretty bad .......... but on the PS3 I've had no problems with all my PS1 games (regardless of whether retail, iso or patched iso).

What do you mean by patched ISO?

Fan translations, Undubs, balance patches etc. that are applied to a game.

After reinstalling the CFW, deleting and reinstalling IRISMAN, FileZilla Client's PKG upload speed is now sometimes very slow (like under 1 MiB/s) and takes some time to reach the previous speed. I tried reinstalling FileZilla Client, Evilnat CFW, IRISMAN, used the "Restore File System" and "Rebuild Database" settings from Safe Mode and I still have this issue.

Weird, after reinstalling the CFW, deleting and reinstalling IRISMAN, it isn't freezing when exiting it but it still is when enabling Cobra's FTP.

Also, FileZilla's transfer speed is now very slow when transferring the big PKG file (like less than 1 MiB/s) a second time and I can't make it recover the previous speed. I tried reinstalling FileZilla Evilnat CFW and IRISMAN and I still have this speed issue.

EDIT: It hardly becomes faster, and when it does, it no longer has the original speed.

EDIT 2: Now sometimes it takes a lot of time to return to XMB when exiting IRISMAN.
Like I said, maybe you did or not, use openps3ftp plugin. I've disabled webman mods ftp in favor of this one. You can ftp on the xmb, so test there.

Didn't you say you'd never answer my replies again and before that didn't you say you didn't want me to bother you with the PS3 scene?

I already told you FileZilla Client's upload speed is slower when using it with openps3ftp instead of IRISMAN even though my PS3 doesn't freeze if using openps3ftp.

Do you know what might be causing the slow FileZilla Client upload speed issue?

Ok, but the question here is that for @godreborn it makes sense for some PS2 models to be incompatible with some PS2 games and for me it doesn't.
In what way doesn't it make sense?

https://www.quora.com/Can-a-PS2-Slim-play-all-PS2-games

There are multiple revisions of the PlayStation 2, with quite large differences. It's possible that Sony didn't test every single game 100% before releasing each new model.

EDIT: It looks like to make the FTP transfer faster I have to restart the PS3 after each transfer and maybe then it isn't granted I'll have the original FTP transfer speed.
FTP servers on ps3 are pretty crappy. Always have been. Eventually the PS3 will stop responding until you reboot

For me it still doesn't make sense because over a PS2 would be needed to play all PS2 games. Also, I guess all PS3s play all PS3 games, all PS4s play all PS4 games, all PS5s play all PS5 games, all PSPs play all PSP games and all PS Vitas play all PS Vita games.

Do the PS1 games with issues on the PS2 work on the PSC and do the PS1 and PS2 games with issues on the PS2 work on the PS3 in IRISMAN?

I never had to restart the PS3 to make it respond and I never had this slow FileZilla Client upload speed issue.

EDIT: I just swapped the HDD for the stock one, reinstalled CFW and after clicking "Enable FTP", the PS3 still freezes with an external HDD connected to it. Now what? I'll swap the HDD for the previous one (which I bought in August 2021).

EDIT 2: I reinstalled FileZilla Client, Evilnat 4.89.3 Cobra 8.4 [PEX] and IRISMAN, used the "Restore File System" and "Rebuild Database" settings from Safe Mode and swapped the HDD for the stock one and for a SSD I bought a week ago and I still have these issues. I'll use the SSD from now on.

EDIT 3: Thanks to the SSD, I'm now getting 21 something MiB/s instead of 18 something MiB/s when uploading PKG files from the PC to the PS3, at least.

EDIT 4: I have a new PC and when uploading PKG files from the PC to the PS3, I'm now getting 22 MiB/s (and even slightly more).

EDIT 5: According to PSX-Place, the "Enable FTP" and "Disable FTP" settings in "Cobra Tools" under "* Custom Firmware Tools" can randomly fail and if the users wants to use them, to wait a few seconds, but even so, clicking "Enable FTP" with an USB device connected to my PS3 still freezes the console.

EDIT 6: I'm not having this issue on Evilnat 4.91.2 [BETA 4] but now FileZilla Client can't show the PS3's directories when clicking "Enable FTP" in "Cobra Tools" under "* Custom Firmware Tools" if an external HDD is connected to the console.
