Just softmod it with twilight menu, the only thing you need as far as I can remeber is a 2GB sd card since larger sizes are not supported. it´s realy simple to do it

Nintendo stopped doing updates to block flashcarts in like 2014-2015. You don't have to worry about that any more.
Reddit has a pretty good guide for deciding what flashcart to get, but the short answer is that an R4 Gold is fine.

With a DSi getting any MicroSD card with an SD card adapter is likely going to be the cheaper and more versatile solution. As long as you have a card reader for them for your PC all you have to do is basically format it as fat32 and the DSi will correctly read it. There's nothing special to watch out for, and the guides will explain how to do even that as well.

It'll be supported.

I'm on the latest firmware (1.4.5 if I'm right, should be safe to use internet btw (definitely haven't used the internet on mine since an R4 stopped working after I updated the software lol) and my card was bought in 2014, so your card will work fine for sure. 3DS compatibility is generally more of a worry nowadays.

I think it was more around 2012, since that's the last time the DSi was updated afaik

Little tip for those geting the AceKardi clone put masking tape on the back of the cart. The cart by itself has issues connecting to the pins on the DS and the masking tape helps fix that.
