That's not the case with everyone on the past. i think after certain age certain people just love the past and hate the future. A lot of old folks like to say "back in my day" for a good reason.
On the future part: i think some things are just out of our control. let me ask you this if you win lottery tomorrow. would you look forward to the future? it's all reality really
Problem preventing a full answer is the present. I'm unable to express myself, and then even in English.
Trying to write something mildly complex down for a month now and… just can't really… but eventually I will. Feels like my brain is made of mud right now.
Past:
The "Back in my day…" thing is often selective. As an example I'll take rose-colored glasses on the own youth. There are a lot of jokes (comics or meme pictures as this is called nowadays) glorifying carefree and fun childhood/youth while emphasizing how hard and full of work and responsibility adulthood is. Inevitably posting such a comic will get a lot of "
" reactions.
Did people really forget how hard life can be for an underage person? "Those aren't real problems! Get my age and you'll get to know real problems". Being legally not able to decide for myself was the single most extreme problem of my life and almost costed my life. How can anybody forget how it feels not being allowed to make their own decisions? Being at other people's the will/mercy.
The outcome depends on the people in charge, not yourself, but YOU have to face the consequences.
What many remember with said rose-colored glasses is: "It was a fun time with friends, no responsibility… just fun, fun and fun." Even in case the people in charge do their best, puberty is anything but fun. Feelings can get arbitrarily intense and ugly.
Change in personal life and in society isn't perceived overall positive with higher age. I think it is pretty normal that people don't want change for the sake of change and just want to continue as they always did if it is working for them. Equally good is trying to improve things. I don't see a necessity for this to become some kind of fight between people of different ages. More an opportunity to find a balance between "preserving good old things" and "being willing to try out new to find something better".
Future:
Concerning future prospects: Nothing can be really planed.
We have to react on what comes across.
That goes for personal life as well as society as a whole. We can try our best, we can work into a direction, but we can't
"forge our own destiny". We can have some kind of influence on our future life, but there is no guarantee for it to work out like we aimed for, even if doing our best. Still some people like to believe that
just their will, their
just inner attitude are responsible for the result.
On the society level there are quite a few circumstances suggesting the state of things might be very near to some tipping point (and with this I don't solely
mean Earth climate, for which tipping point is often used). I can't and do not even want to go into detail here.
