Yes this is a discussion of past and future. Even tho i think i had a good past i seem to hate it for some reason. Even tho my future might not be good. as no one know what the future holds. i might die tomorrow crossing the street (who knows). I look forward to the future. When i think of the past for every 99 good moments i had i always think of that one bad moment i had.

i want to see how other people see the past and future or is this how im built.

Do you like your past more? or do you look forward to the future more?

Neither of those options. Liking my past would be an accurate definition of the word masochism.

Looking forward to the future, given what is happening in the world, would require me to become even more cynical than currently.

I just try to somehow deal with the things that get thrown at me while avoiding to many thoughts into the direction of past times.

Sorry, I'm currently unable to fully answer that. I've a few other topics where I *want* to write in detail about… and just can't.

That's not the case with everyone on the past. i think after certain age certain people just love the past and hate the future. A lot of old folks like to say "back in my day" for a good reason.

On the future part: i think some things are just out of our control. let me ask you this if you win lottery tomorrow. would you look forward to the future? it's all reality really

I’ll never forget “my day”. It was totally different 40 years ago. Of course I can say everything was better then, but I am a little biased. Had a great time.

Now that I’ve had a family of my own for some time, I can honestly say that I’m excited for the future. In my future, I see electric vehicles everywhere and my kids having families of their own. No matter what that looks like for them. As long I can see the day that they are happy and independently secure.

I hope, after retirement, to be in the electric vehicle space. I’ve only just begun my journey in to this area, but it is very exciting and rewarding. I DO WISH that I started this venture earlier, but I’m here now and can’t change the past. Time to make the most of it! Failures and all!

Note: winning the lottery would absolutely help my retirement situation.

For me for instance 10 years ago was infinitely more exciting and fun than the present, and my future will be more work and tough times. I am not looking forward to the future at all

Gimme the past back baby

Problem preventing a full answer is the present. I'm unable to express myself, and then even in English. Trying to write something mildly complex down for a month now and… just can't really… but eventually I will. Feels like my brain is made of mud right now.

Past:
The "Back in my day…" thing is often selective. As an example I'll take rose-colored glasses on the own youth. There are a lot of jokes (comics or meme pictures as this is called nowadays) glorifying carefree and fun childhood/youth while emphasizing how hard and full of work and responsibility adulthood is. Inevitably posting such a comic will get a lot of "👍" reactions.

Did people really forget how hard life can be for an underage person? "Those aren't real problems! Get my age and you'll get to know real problems". Being legally not able to decide for myself was the single most extreme problem of my life and almost costed my life. How can anybody forget how it feels not being allowed to make their own decisions? Being at other people's the will/mercy. The outcome depends on the people in charge, not yourself, but YOU have to face the consequences.
What many remember with said rose-colored glasses is: "It was a fun time with friends, no responsibility… just fun, fun and fun." Even in case the people in charge do their best, puberty is anything but fun. Feelings can get arbitrarily intense and ugly.

Change in personal life and in society isn't perceived overall positive with higher age. I think it is pretty normal that people don't want change for the sake of change and just want to continue as they always did if it is working for them. Equally good is trying to improve things. I don't see a necessity for this to become some kind of fight between people of different ages. More an opportunity to find a balance between "preserving good old things" and "being willing to try out new to find something better".

Future:
Concerning future prospects: Nothing can be really planed.

We have to react on what comes across.
That goes for personal life as well as society as a whole. We can try our best, we can work into a direction, but we can't "forge our own destiny". We can have some kind of influence on our future life, but there is no guarantee for it to work out like we aimed for, even if doing our best. Still some people like to believe that just their will, their just inner attitude are responsible for the result.
On the society level there are quite a few circumstances suggesting the state of things might be very near to some tipping point (and with this I don't solely mean Earth climate, for which tipping point is often used). I can't and do not even want to go into detail here.

Interesting topic. The Past will always hold a nostalgic feeling for anyone. People we knew, places we went, things we got up to! Even bad memories will have a good something in there somewhere but also the "past" had a lot more freedom that is slowly being taken away unawares by most.

One small example would relate to the theory that kids never go out anymore and are stuck indoors on tech all day. Maybe that has got something to do with the fact that most things or places I was able to go or do are now all closed/sealed off, built upon, even parks or grassed areas have signs that warn of NO BALL GAMES and the likes. Kids today have nothing else to do or anywhere to go unless they can afford to always goto a commercial premises. Adventure play is certainly a thing of the past and that is sad as it creates imagination and character taken into later life.

Unfortunately my outlook for the future is bleak. We have succumbed to the greed and corruption of governments and companies who dictate what sort of a life you have, better or worse.... Mostly for the worst while the top of the chain live lavish.

Technology has also slowed down for a number reasons in recent times while also making great strides in efforts to replace human workers in many industries. This is the Future we have all bought into now and unfortunately there's no going back because we have given them too much power and The People are simply ignored and trodden on anyway. Humanity in a sentence... The only trait we have maintained since humans could walk or talk is the ability to fuck each other over.

So to answer your later question about winning the lottery..... If i won the lottery I'd fuck everyone over too because why not? I've earned it with the amount of times I've been shat on and trying to do the right thing in this world gets you absolutely nowhere.

As I said.... Bleak!

My past was awful and I am in therapy to deal with it. A quick look at my blog posts only shows walls upon walls of the most depressing shit ever. As things are going now, my future is far brighter with far more opportunities.

I'm living in present (or the moment), and have been for the past 7 years (or so), thus i don't yearn for the future or what i'd like to be etc. Same for the past, there's definitely some regrets/guilt there's nothing one could do to change that, but i also was a different person back then, and those very same events are what shaped the person i am today. 🤷🏻‍♂️
The fact of the matter is to live without shame/regrets/fear or guilt, and it takes inner strength to get there, and to live in the moment, the moment won't last and will soon be a thing of the past too..
Not sure if this is the kind of response you were looking for, but here it is anyway.

My perception of time is... incorrect. I know at the very least I have some type of autism and whether or not that's a variable in my perception of time, I've got no clue.

I live my day to day life in the moment; if there is a moment concerning the future in my present, then it takes priority over my focus. I use the past to garner awareness of what to look out for, and I note when I'm creating an important memory when it's in the present.
Important moments that have been... unfortunate moments of my past, all gain new meaning over time if I allow it. If my past isn't worth thinking about, it often goes forgotten. I feel I live with the bare minimum to be a functioning member of society and I'm always trying to teach myself more about life, as I never had people in my life to teach me about it.

I often obsess over a made up statistic, "moments per second", which is a measurement of how much I'm "living" in a confined period of time. I've never calculated it to the second, but the idea gives me awareness of when life is moving fast and I've gotta be fast to keep up.

Anyway, my past was my own hell, my present is my own confusion, and my future is just a slideshow of moments waiting to be my present. I believe I'm on a good track to move forward and be successful in life, at least.
