I'm modding my new nintendo 3ds xl for obvious reasons, and I've been trying to turn on the Luma or boot9strap or whatever it's called through the proxy thing. The thing is, whenever I try to do the proxy thing (I've been following a yt tutorial btw) my bottom screen turns red and nothing happens. Does anyone know what to do?

I've attached a video below

Wow, that video was hard to follow due to the massive text you put on the screen. You don't need that proxy anymore and Nintendo hasn't banned anyone for hacking their system in literally years.

Unless you're cheating online.

Even then, Nintendo hasn't been as heavy on the hammer. But the DNS thing is largely due to 3DS phoning home, which might have caused a mass banwave back in 2017. Nintendo has not done another banwave since then and we still have no full confirmation any preventive measures can be done if they ever decided to do another banwave.

Still, I got banned for cheating in Badge Arcade after a week of attempting to grab all of the badges. So, in theory, it's still possible.

I didn't say they don't, just that they've not been as heavy. Using a different DNS wouldn't actually prevent that ban.

YouTube videos used to have the big problem of becoming obsolete fairly quickly. Of course, Nintendo isn't updating the 3DS as much anymore since it's a dead platform to them, so that's less and less of an issue. Still, you should follow 3ds.hacks.guide and maybe use a YouTube video as a suppliment on what to be looking for and what it looks like when you're doing it. And that only applies to a video that's very current.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
