All stats based on either research or experience. Not all of it is based on the console itself, but it's reception and Units sold.

Horsepower:
Xbox: 733 MHz
GCN: 485 MHz
PS2: 295 MHz

Games licensed:
PS2: 4,000
Xbox: 998
GCN: 600

Dashboard functionality:
Tie between PS2 and GCN. Xbox had a dashboard that popped up immediately after the startup sequence.

Copies sold:
PS2: 155 Million Units
Xbox: 24 Million Units
GCN: 21.75 Million Units

Controller lag (by experience):
The Duke and DualShock 2 didn't have any lag that I know of, but the GCN Controller and Wavebird had a .5 second lag.

Console design:
GCN: Simplicity (a literal fucking cube)
PS2: Fantasy-Futuristic esque shit idk
Xbox: Futuristic (also had a giant capacitor that could cause RRoD out of nowhere, and my Xbox RRoDing on me when I was younger gave me a hatred for red rings in general.)

Quality:
GCN: Had a pretty stable circuit board.
PS2: Had a lot of screen freezes and RSoD existed.
Xbox: As mentioned before, if that large ass capacitor blows, it will RRoD.

Reception:
Tie between Xbox and PS2. At their time, the GameCube was criticized for being "too modern" (according to Thomas Game Docs).

Current Standings:
PS2: 4 points
Xbox: 3 points
CGN: 3 points

The PS2 is in the lead, while GCN and Xbox are neck and neck. Who will stand to the PS2 for the preliminary between Xbox and GCN? Let's see.

Backwards compatibility:
GCN: used an addon to play GBA games.
Xbox: was the first of it's kind, so it didn't need BACKWARDS compatibility, but could play DVDs with an addon required.

Winner of the GCN/Xbox preliminary: GCN. Although playing DVDs on a game console was new at the time, PS2 also had a DVD player with an addon required, and playing GBA games on a GameCube was a good idea and was worth the hassle to put it together.

Final round. GCN and PS2 are neck and neck 4 points.

And it is...

The experience (how games ran, etc.)
Hmm... The GCN had great games from Super Smash Bros Melee to PMTTYD, but also shit games like... Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut (note: PS2 also had SADXDD)

The PS2 also had great games from PaRappa the Rapper 2 to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and shit games like... Dear god... The Legend of Alan Dar.

But who wins this round, I hear you ask? Well... Hmm... SSBM, PM TTYD and GTA SA are both the top sellers to their respective consoles... And the Legend of Alan Dar is way worse than SADXDD...

Fuck it the winner is the Nintendo GameCube.

You might be wondering how come, well... It was out of random.

I intentionally left out the Dreamcast because it's technically not a 6th generation console.

Hardware: Xbox > GCN > DC > PS2

But in terms of games, it's completely subjective, tbh. Xbox definitely was superior when it came to multiplatform games while inferior for exclusives (not a whole lot).

It is.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixth_generation_of_video_game_consoles

Gen 5: N64, PS1, Saturn (and Atari Jaguar if you'd consider it a 64bit console)
Gen 6: DC, PS2, Xbox, GCN

PS2 played DVDs out of the box and it had a OSD as well as the GCN.
Wait, why am I defending the PS2?... I'm a filthy Xboy!

Oh also, the Xbox doesn't RROD.
That's the 360, not the Xbox, the latter did "christmas lights" when a hardware or software error related to dash files/HDD occured.
Besides, capacitor issues are to be expected as the thing was made in the capacitor plague era.
I'm fairly certain the PS2 and GCN also contains shitty caps, with PS2 being the PSU of main concern and the GCN probably the same.

Mine did.

RROD stands for Red Ring Of Death, a problem specific to the xbox 360 where it displays 3 red LED states on the ring surrounding the powerbutton.
The original Xbox simply flickers between red and green LED states around the power button resembling christmas lights.

"And I took that personally."

Hard to find a bad game among the GameCube's first party games and reputable developers, and even though it may have been a bit strange navigating the overworld, it's got a lot of amazing things going for it, the soundtrack is amazing, the gameplay is great, and I personally remember the story fondly. Although I can understand others' problems with it, I still love the game.

And also GCN > Xbox > PS2, as the GameCube had all the games I played as a kid and loved them, the Xbox wasn't my first choice when playing games as a kid, but I understand the power it has over the PS2 now so I definitely see it more fondly now. And although I love the Ratchet and Clank series( haven't played anything except for Deadlocked ) on PS2, there's a lot of fondness I have for games like Crimson Skies, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters, Star Wars: Battlefront 2, SSX Tricky, etc...

Just never had many games for the PS2, but other than Kingdom Hearts which I love, there wasn't anything I wanted on it over the other consoles.

...The Xbox 360's RRoD can also display 1, 2, and 4 LED states. 3 is just most common. Thank god I grew up on the Wii.

All I played were Wii Games, Xbox games, PS3 games, Xbox 360 and One games, Wii U games, and Switch games without emulation.

GCN... The last console Nintendo released that was technically on par with the competition. Starting with the Wii, they just gave up trying to use recent hardware and decided to go for gimmicks instead. Good or bad idea? Both. Wii was a commercial success, not the Wii U, and Switch is also a success. I guess they're doing ok, overall.

Gamecube has a lot of games that I am still constantly returning to. It didn't have many games but it did have a lot of quality games.
PS2 has some games I've returned to but I've mostly played either the Xbox version, remakes, or emulator with shaders. NGL, PS2 graphics aged like pilk.
Despite my hatred of Microsoft, I am still constantly playing my Xbox and enjoying games on it. I honestly find most games just looked better and handled better on the Xbox compared to their PS2 counterparts. That's not always the case but it has been with many of the games that I enjoy. Plus, hacked Xbox with a 120GB hard drive for more games~

I had an Xbox which worked perfectly for years and then one morning I tried to boot it up and it malfunctioned, it showed all the colors on the LED it had, plus pressing the eject button made it boot on/off. Furthermore, if I'd play a game on it I'd risk it auto-shutting itself off.

Microsoft... sigh.

I never realize the Xbox and the gamecube were so close when it comes to units sold.
Also that gen in general is a prime example of how raw power isn't everything when it comes to consoles. The Ps2 was so weak compared to the Xbox and Gamecube that the RE4 port is incapable of the dynamic difficulty that every single version of RE4 has, and thats even after the severe graphical downgrade that port had. Then you have games like the Ratchet games which by all means should have been impossible on ps2 specially at 60 fps and minimalistic load times to almost rival the Gamecube's first party titles in that regard.

There were a few games on PS2 that ran at 1080i so that's an interesting piece of history.

But yeah, it was weaker than Xbox and GCN.

And I didn't.

The Red Ring Of Death is specifically the 3 quadrants.
Other combinations correlate to other problems.
The whole RROD thing that people talk about is the death of the console by overheating.
Not the detection of no videocable, nor Exx errors nor overheating whilst on.

Microsoft... sigh.

Sounds like your clock cap leaked and corroded some power traces.
I've repaired a few xboxes with those symptoms.

A recap of the board and trace repair will make it as good as new again.

Owned all 3, Xbox was by far the superior console in my opinion. Not only in an official way, but from modding/emulation/homebrew aspect as well. I also found the Xbox pad to be the most comfortable to use.

I also owned (and still do) all 3, and I agree with you. When I first saw Dead or Alive 3 running on the Xbox in a local store, my jaw dropped. I didn't know that console could push those kind of graphics, I thought. That made me buy one. I didn't regret it, but I never bought another Microsoft console afterwards.

DoA3 is awesome, but personally they'll never make a better game than DoA2 (and especially that remake on Xbox). DoA5 is pretty dang good and fairly close to the caliber of DoA2, so there's that.

DoA2's Xbox remake should have been ported to PS4/PS5 too by now.
