It's been like 90% full speed for a few years now, but countperop makes it even better.. needs the glide build on the discord
we need to add mr.bean folder with textures from xbox360 dump for 007 Goldeneye to make it look better as remaster. i would like to know if anybody know how to add textures

Sometimes when I use finalburn neo I accidentally hold the start button and go to that pc menu, when I exit, it resets the whole game, is there a button or button combination I can press to continue playing the game, instead of resetting it. I just remembered playing online just now with someone using a pc, they were hosting and went into that test menu and exited it without the game restarting. I don’t use this core a lot netplay if because I don’t know how to exit it. The start button is also the continue button got to make sure not to press for two seconds.

this is not possible. When you set Dipswitches, the game MUST be restarted to take effect (like changing a config file needs to restart the software). Dipswtiches are not applied "live". This is the normal behavior on real MVS board and you can't bypass it.

and BTW, generally, you set dipswitches ONE time, on first launch (blood, difficulty, langage, etc.)...then you won't touch it anymore.

ps : you can change Dipswitches button so you don't "accidentally" press it (which is already hard because you have to stay for a while on that button !). Maybe by using some key combinaison ?

you can use rewind feature...it work flawlessly with arcades, just set the shortcut for it and if you accidentally get to that menu, you can just rewind back to gameplay.

I’ll setup rewind and try this out. Can’t recall if rewind works on netplay but lucky, I use the finalburn alpha for that. I am now wondering if the person hosting used rewind.

I will look into this, I did already but maybe I missed something.

Thank you @Badablek @bad361 for the replies, ok the rewind thing works but it won’t for netplay but that’s okay. Also there was away to turn this menu off after all, once core was loaded, it was in core options. This is like my go to core so I’m glad this can be turned off. If only the switch could exit that menu and continue playing the game without a reset. I don’t recall really what the person was doing in that menu because they were quick but maybe pc gets to rewind on netplay.

Even after all those years, N64 still has black bars on all four directions by default. Is there still no fix for this other than doing the offset stuff manually pixel by pixel until it "seems to be correct"?
Also as I'm super out of the loop, how would I increase performance without overclocking? Any one or two magic options to tweak to get it running smoothly? Frameskip maybe?

Depending on the game, setting countperop to 1 can help (or higher if need be, but the higher you go the more chance it has to crash). Why don't you want to overclock?

Thanks.
Basically don't wanna shorten the lifespan of my hackable unit more than necessary.

Do you also have a tip for the annoying letterboxing?

Got this working back in 2021 but forgot to post it

This is retarded! I must have it for my collection! Thanks for posting.

Have you try run any game on 98? you mind share the link?

Seems tedious, but doable:

going to try putting a Retroarch forwarder with a Win98 logo on my title page…

Not sure about the bars.. but you're probably not going to get the best performance unless you OC the CPU, Switch just can't handle it otherwise
Seems like I won't be able to get around overclocking then. Thanks.
Just don't try and build the image in switch dosbox pure, build it on pc first and transfer it over unless you want to wait for hours
This. I've tinkered around with Win 3.11 some years ago. That's probably acceptable in terms of loading times but as soon as it gets to W95+, don't do it on the console. Same goes for installing big games (including DOS games). Just do it on a PC and transfer the result over.

Open Retroarch, don’t load a core or content. Go to Settings, go to Video, go to Aspect Ratio. Change it as needed. I tend to go with 16:9 as it fills the screen but doesn’t stretch too much. 16:10 will get you black bars on the top/bottom but will stretch up/down less.

I'm aware of this. It works for every single core... except N64.
I always turn integer scaling of and keep aspect ratio on to have a perfectly fit screen that either only has black bars on the left and right (because 4:3 content on a 16:9 console naturally does) or on top and bottom although this doesn't happen on the Switch since it's already 16:9 and I'm not aware of any core that runs on it that has an even wider screen.
