Forget about the library, most games are available on better platforms; you can use it for emulation, just because of it the PSP is worth it.

If you like the games it offers, you'll love the PSP.

Pros: Excellent game library; very impressive graphics for a handheld of that era; sleek form factor; easy to hack for game ripping and emulation.
Cons: The analog stick is really bad and is poorly located which cramps your hand; 1st/3rd person shooters stupidly get crammed onto the system and are forced to use the face buttons for aiming because there is only one analog stick.

Yes, no, maybe.
If you don't have fond memories of the PSP. Probably not. The screen is not to good, lots of ghosting. If you get a Vita you will get all a PSP can do and more.
But I like to boot up my PSP and spin up my old UMDs. Just because of the nostalgia.
If you get it cheap go for it. There is a lot of homebrew and awesome games.
I resently bought 2 PSPs for 20$.
There is also other handheld consoles that can emulate PSP games. I have not tried them but I have seen some reviews on YouTube. But maybe that is something that can interest you?

It's good, but if you can afford it get a Vita instead. Plays just about everything a PSP does, and then some (also more horsepower for emulation).

On a serious note, if you can get a Vita (any model) i would say get that instead, it can play psp games along with Vita games, also better performance on Retro emulators, better/bigger screen, and has a right analog stick etc.
But if you got a deal on a psp (like super cheap), it wouldn't hurt if you chose to get it..

The experience I get with my PSP 3001 is great. :) I have no quams about it. I take it with me to a restaurant sometimes to play with while I'm waiting for my food to arrive.

How long is everyone's battery life on a PSP? Is anyone underclocking or maybe have a battery mod with the disc drive removed?

It is probably the console I have the deepest level of fondness for. It's the one that I really learned how to do any kind of modding on, and will always have a special place in my heart because of that.

I would recommend a Vita, though, if you're going to get a portable Sony console. Has everything the PSP does, with dual analog sticks, so PSX games are naturally much, much better.

Not a direct answer, however, ...

... getting a PSTV allows you to run PSP games in Adrenaline bubbles and it's pretty sweet as a way of playing the game library. There's a Vita plugin called reVita which can run in the background to remap controls.

Not good, TBH. I got one of those Cameron Sino batteries a few months ago and I can't play for more than 1 hour with it. Same thing with the original one.
