it’s absolutely a real Linux distribution. That being the case, the possibilities are endless. The best resource will be the MegaScript that comes with L4T. It includes many of the packages the team has put together that work well on Switch. Throw a keyboard and mouse on it and you’ve got yourself a nice portable Linux box. The biggest difference is the age of the OS so somethings in 2023 won’t run but really it depends upon what you are in to and if it’s already included in the MegaScript or not.

Be sure to follow the instructions here: https://wiki.switchroot.org/

back in the day getting something running on the DS/PSP was great because most people had dumbphones and so you could SSH into things using your device. i'm not saying there isn't a use case for linux on the switch but considering how great smartphones are nowadays, i can't see a switch with linux on it providing a better experience.

the most use i could see is it having a decent gamepad but if you've already hacked your switch you already have access to various emulators. it'd be a little nicer than a phone to develop on but... uh, don't do that lmfao.

i guess with a teeny bluetooth keyboard you could essentially have a netbook and do proper document editing in libreoffice?

little webserver or like, minecraft server or something might be nice. that or drawpile. aesprite also works on arm so i guess uh, you could just install a python ide and make crappy little games to play directly on your switch via pygame?

could also draw stuff on it for splatoon and other games that allow you to post drawings, dither and convert it to whatever and then just swap over to the game and use it.
