i own a switch oled and couple of games.
i managed to find an unpatched switch XAJ 40004xxx i have checked on website it says its not patched its running latest 15.1.
Shall i just go and buy, do i need to check anything, it says that it turns on.. does it mean its not modded or bricked.. do i have to check anything else.
The option given by the site tch.homebrew is to use fusee-gelee , dejavu, atmosphere....
1) what should be best option to mod.
2) how can i get games, do i have to copy the games which i already own.
3) Shall i sell the switch oled and get this one...or try doing the swith oled.
Thanks for helping me out.

Read this guide fully first! https://switch.homebrew.guide/
I will point out also, you may want to ask if the Switch is already banned, before buying, if you want online play, that is. Good luck.

You should read what each of these is since it seems you don't understand. Only viable CFW today is Atmosphere. fusee-gelee is a name of exploit you use to boot Atmosphere on unpatched units.
Thanks @ masagrator for your rply. Yes i am reading the guide.

Check Sthetix videos on youtube, there you have detailed info about the mods.
I wouldn't even consider something like a heatgun/hairdrier, apart from covering a huge area, it doesn't have temperature control. Invest in a hot air system.
Regarding the modchip, don't know about UK stores, though you can order them through AliExpress (look there for a hot air station as well, some are ok for reflow work).

Yes to all of the above. Sthetix’ vids are exactly what you need. No more no less.
You’re asking some telling questions (which is good btw!)
If this is your first soldering project I highly recommend taking it to a local electronics/phone repair shop. This is not a beginner project. Heck, I’ve been soldering for decades and almost died twice doing mine. Kidding about the last part but seriously, it’s a tough project. Learn on something less expensive.

Totally agree with Binki, even in the Sthetix' videos it may seem easy, but it is done under a good magnification, and I wouldn't even consider performing this work without a microscope.

As well you'll need some fine soldering iron tips (the HAKKO T15/T12 clones are ok, I used a modded KSGER T12 with ILS soldering tip for most of work), something like AWG36 or thinner wire (enamel is fine) for data points, and I personally used AWG30 kynar for power. Perform with care and patience while uncovering the CLK point.

If you have access to some of the instruments/materials above and some SMD soldering experience, it should be ok. Otherwise, you would need to invest in instruments and in time spent practicing, or just take it to a professional as suggested.

Good luck! ;)

Thanks binki and phantom for a detailed explanation. I will check the equipment to do some practice..
I will also try to find a local mobile repair shop to do the job..
One last question should I get an only unpatched switch… for 200 and do the exploit. I have ordered a jig… just for trial.
Or should I keep the OLED switch and source a hwfly and give it to mobile local shop to install chip.
Thanks in advance.

$200 for a solid V1 is a great price.

¿Por qué no los dos?

I’m probably the wrong guy to ask. I have 1xV1, 2xV2, 1xV2lite on the way and a ever increasing desire to see for myself what the fuss is all about w/ the OLED. Gotta catch them all!

…or maybe don’t ask for sobriety tips from a heroin addict?

“We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.

Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.”

I've never tried a non-OLED model, but I'm quite sattisfied with the OLED screen: vivid colors and good contrast. Check some comparison reviews to see if its really worth, or wait until binki finishes his "Las Vegas Switch" trip :D

Ok waiting for binki trip . He must be an expert
Far from it. We’re all on this rock together, hurtling through space and there is nobody driving.

Keep the OLED and keep it 100% clean. Don’t buy the HWFLY for $75 and don’t pay $125 for the install, Savin you $200.
Use the $200 saved above to buy the V1 and get dirty w/ your bad self.

that’s my recommend.

Thanks binki,
I will keep the oled clean and buy the v1, anything i need to check before buying V1 apart from the serial number which comes out as green.
I am also getting 6 months warranty on it...
I am waiting for the jig, have downloaded all the files. ready for another adventure.

If I had a Oled I would totally risk it despite my soldering skills being super low and I only have a JVC 11w which big projects I need to use a jet flame lighter on it :D

But I would totally wait for cheaper chips, at least they were talking in this forum about upcoming cheaper chips but I don't know...

Offtopic (the hardest thing I soldered):
Anyway I managed to solder a Intel motherboard CPU pin with only soldering flux and the 11W JVC with no magnifying glasses or anything, I lost the pin in my white table many times LOL.

But managed to get the bastard working, the 2 ram slots from the motherboard came back to life like before the pin breaking...

But it actually took a lot more time to get a motherboard pin from a intel 775 bad board, the 11w iron couldn't do anything, a much higher wattage desoldering iron nothing and hell I even put a huge flame burning the socket and nothing, could only get it by breaking the board in half and after many attempts to grab a good one.

Ps: intel board pins is my worse nightmare that I don't want to ever solder a single more.

Ps: but I would also totally die on the inside if I killed a Switch Oled

Serial number is the big one. Other than that it’s just like buying a used car. Scratches can be buffed out, you can replace consumables (joycons etc). Cracked screens aren’t good but that can be replaced too. Having a warranty is kinda crazy…where did you land this deal?

If you want online access with it, you should ask and make sure it is not a banned Switch. Game on!
