@blackb0x On vWii, I reinstalled v10 beta52 d2x-v10-beta52-vWii and tried wtih USB Loader GX 7th release. It is able to return to the loader without issue.

With v10 beta52 d2x-v10-beta52-vWii and v3.0-r1281, It freezes when trying to return to the loader. Pressing HOME button and selecting Wii Menu, just freezes vWii without anything displaying.

So it's not an issue with d2x v11, but you only experience it with the new version of the loader.

I assume you're using the loaders default settings and have only configured the loader to return to the UNEO channel?

I'd like to know if anyone else can play Mortal Kombat Armageddon on a vWii and then return to the loader without it freezing, since that'll let me know if this is an isolated issue or if there's some sort of a memory conflict that occurs on vWii.

Yes, i used default setting and set return to UNEO loader. I checked my backups SHA-1 hash. I tried installing v11 and using older version of the loader but it showed unexpected error screen and reset after 20 secs back to vWii menu.
So v11 seem to conflict with older version of the loader?

It'll work for older versions of the loader and other USB loaders too.

If you want to downgrade from r1281 to an older release you should delete the usbloader_gx directory instead of replacing the DOL and XML file, otherwise older versions of the loader will crash.

Yes, currently I have set up d2x V10 and downgraded to r1272. I have deleted USB loader folder and is setting up the loader from fresh. I would help with testing if you need me to test builds.

I have a similar issue with Trackmania in VWii. When I close out of the game, it just black screens on me, but now way to recover unless I actually pull power in order to reset the WiiU. Not a big deal by any means, just figured I'd mention as similar - think it's the only game for me that does it. USA/default USBLoader GX settings, recommended CIOS/slots/bases.

Could be the latter (memory confict) as I know I'm not able to return to UNEO for some games with the new release on vWii either. Only tested a couple but Mario Kart Deluxe is an example that black screens and needs power pulling (tbf, it's all my kid plays so he's moaning about it a lot, lol).

Thanks for the info guys.

Unfortunately this isn't an issue that I can debug with Dolphin emulator and I don't own a USB Gecko or a Wii U either, so I'm currently making some blind (but good?) guesses. That'll eventually change once I hit my donation goal though as the first thing I'm going to get is a Wii U.

I'll message you if I think I need another tester ^_^

Kirby doesn't freeze anymore with the deflicker turned off. Thats cool!

But for the life of me i've never been able to get 007 working! It always freezes at some point no matter what combination of USB loader settings i use. : (

Anyone have any suggestions?

What is all this about Kirby Return to Dreamland working? Mine has always worked…?

I modded my Wii two years ago using Cyan’s last version of USBLGX and d2x-v8-final cIOS’s. I got my Kirby game from a friend named vimm, it’s the NTSC-U version. I run all Wii games from a microSD inserted into a USB in the back (and I run USBLGX from an SD card in the front). Game saves to emuNAND.

I’ve played a few levels of the game without a single problem. This isn’t a troubleshooting question. I’m just curious why it works for me since I modded my Wii before the fixes.

Depending on your settings and if you did or didn't use patch files it could cause the game to freeze during certain events. Now it shouldn't do that at all when playing from a USB storage device.

The code for Kirby's Return to Dreamland includes an anti-piracy program that freezes the game if it detects that any of the game's code has been altered. Under default settings in previous versions of USB Loader GX, the game worked, but certain loader settings (such as the deflicker patch and some other custom video options) work by injecting custom code into the game as it launches, which trips the anti-piracy.

Blackb0x has since gotten around that by including a patch made specifically for that game that disables the anti-piracy entirely. There are a few other Wii games that use similar anti-piracy measures, and those games still have problems, but blackb0x has been working on fixing that. In fact, thanks to a recent breakthrough, the next release of USB Loader GX is set to include a fix for Ubisoft's The Adventures of Tintin, another game that crashes when played from the loader due to anti-piracy checks.

Yea, that'll be okay.

The d2x installer isn't included on GitHub because it's a separate app and I didn't compile it. But to simplify the installation for people I did upload repackaged installers here at GBAtemp ^_^
whats a d2x installer? What does it do?

Oh nvm i have that already lol.

I just don't know how to use it cause i'm always afraid to brick my wii. But maybe thats why my 007 doesn't work cause maybe i'm missing some Ios that work with it. who knows. complicated stuff.

A d2x installer patches original IOS (they are like driver between hard- and software) to be able to use homebrew stuff.

For correct installation check -> cIOS setup and should be by using d2x-v10-beta52 or blackb0x new one d2x-v11-beta1 like this recommendation:
  • cIOS 249(base56)
  • cIOS 250(base57)
  • cIOS 251(base38) (Wii) / (base58) vWii

Try the installer at bottom of this post.

Hello. I have a problem that I couldn't solve on my own. I want to use emunand for Just Dance 2015 game. But it corrupts the save in this mode, both partial and complete. I've tried directing the save to different partitions, even the SD card. The only place it works is in the wii's internal memory by turning off emunand. I want to use DLCs that don't fit in the internal memory, is there a way to use emunand and save to the internal memory? Or a solution so that it doesn't corrupt the file?

Just Dance won't work with EmuNAND. The only way that works reliable is the Wad2Bin tool having the DLC on the SD-card. I spent hours of time into EmuNAND/SNEEK methods finding out in the end that Wad2Bin is the only one that works the best, but not the fastest. This is the same for Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. I gonna share my experiences and fool proof method soon, in the mean time this is a fine tutorial for doing this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/installing-rock-band-just-dance-and-guitar-hero-dlc-on-wii.624594/.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
