Xbox & Bethesda present a Developer Direct

Xbox presented today a quite unique direct, in which the developers themselves talk about the games they are working on for either Xbox, PC or Game Pass. The quite-lengthy 44 minutes direct goes over many of the technical and artistry aspects of the many games that the teams have been working on to present their games into the world.

The presented games go as follows:
  • Minecraft Legends, an action-strategy game based on the Minecraft IP, presented by Executive Producer, Dennis Ries. Coming April 18th, 2023.
  • Forza Motorsport, the newest entry in the Forza franchise with over 800 cars, and 800 features to customize them, presented by creative director, Chris Esaki. They showing their incredible realism in terms of using a spectophotometer for light sources, life-like reflections and gloss, and even simulatig dirt accumulation in the car's chassis. Coming in 2023.
  • Hi-Fi Rush, an interesting rhythm-action game with a cartoony/cel-shaded stylish artstyle, in the vein of something similar to Bayonetta or Red Steel, but with the twist that the better the player flows with the music, the better the effect of abilities and attacks get, presented by none other than Shinji Mikami of Resident Evil and The Evil Within fame as the studio head of Tango Gameworks, and director John Johannes. Available right after the Direct, January 25th, 2023.
  • The Elder Scrolls Online gets a brand new cinematic teaser, with a new chapter called "Necrom" with a new class called Arcanist, presented by Matt Firor, head of Zenimax Studios. Coming June 5th, 2023 for PC and June 20th, 2023 for Xbox.
  • Redfall gets a brand new trailer. A vampire-slaying FPS that can be played single player or co-op, with 4 heroes to choose from, each with unique abilities, presented by director Harvey Smith and creative director Ricardo Bare. Coming May 2nd, 2023.

Considering they revealed it and released it in the same day, nobody had heard of it. Love these types of surprise drops though, exponentially better than having a two-year marketing cycle ahead of a game's release.
I completely missed the fact that it was releasing today, and it's on PC to boot, awesome!

Alt title: After laying off thousands of employees, Microsoft now has enough money to host a presentation that could have been sent in an email.

Really wishing they'd just bring the XBLA port of Goldeneye (and Rare Replay) to PC. *Edited for clarity**************************

I thought it was a pretty good showing. But then again I'm not a six year old console warrior.
I played the first two and a half hours of Hi-Fi Rush so far. REALLY GOOD. Great soundtrack and gameplay. It's like DMC meets Rhythm Heaven.

Bro it's literally just the N64 ROM running in an emulator. You can do the exact same thing on your PC already.

LMAO No. JuSt EmUlATe iT... Nah, I'd prefer if Microsoft/Rare would just give us the canceled XBLA port. If I'm going to play the original game in all its glory, it will be on the original hardware.

After reading information involving this "port", it really just screams "3-month crunch" to get it emulated... and even the NSO port is seemingly busted af.

Well this came out of the blue for me..
Post automatically merged:

Hmm.. Hi Fi Rush looks cool, reminds me of Sunset Overdrive for some reason.. Interesting timing/rhythm gimmick..
Not sure what to make of Redfall though, well atleast it's vampires, not more of them bloody zombies..

Bruh, Redfall is £69.99 on the Xbox store.

£70 (seventy as in 7 tenners)
And the deluxe edition is £99.99!!!

What the fuck!? We are hitting N64 cartridge level prices for games now.
What rock you been living under? Sony started the £70 for the base game with the launch of the PS5 and obviously once one jumps in the pool it doesn't take long for the rest of the leeches to follow suit. Predictably the sports games were next and it seems like now pretty much all first party titles and most third party titles across the XB & PS will be that price.

I know. It's crazy. I will never pay £70 for a game. I'll wait a year until it's 40+% off if I have to. I can wait.

Yep, this has been my strat for years at this point. IIRC the last game I bought full price was Mafia Remastered and even then it was only because of nostalgia and the fact it was praised by the community for actually being good. Going back past that, I dunno.

As for preordering, I honestly cannot remember the last game I did it for either.
Edit - Actually I do, GTA V on PC. I had played it on XB360 but totally skipped the PS4/XB1 release so I knew what I was getting going in to it anyway.

Screw hype, I can enjoy a game 6 months after release for 40% off more than I would on the day it launches.

We don't bend, we don't fold, we don't break; we pirate that ish unless it goes on sale at a steep discount :D
good luck with xbox now the OG/360 days are over hacking will never exist again but as a trade off anyone can use dev mode for $20 (unless they reversed course again and started revolking access again)

I'm not sure what relevance does your comment have to do w/ what I said. I'm confused ... And last time I checked, you don't need dev mode to run homebrew on XBox Series consoles.

Hi-Fi Rush is a breath of fresh air. Played for a couple hours on Game Pass then immediately bought it on Steam (I have a Deck and like my Steam library.)

It's a pretty good game, and quite the surprise drop. Not keen on the music though, give me some Abba tracks instead...
Good 'Direct', Forza looks fantastic (heard it might be delayed though), Minecraft Legends looks interesting ...but Redfall still looks shite to me (it's from the Dishonored/Deathloop lot so I'll reserve judgement) and ESO?? Fukk me lads, should've stopped flogging that pile of excrement years ago..

Yeah I'm absolutely loving it, oozes quality and polish. You can tell the devs had a great time making it, leagues better than anything Tango Gameworks has done before (not that that's a long list).

Boo, it doesn't get any more perfect than putting in The Black Keys and NIN for the first two licensed tracks you hear. Even the original music is great so far.
