I have seen this video where mocha is booted and wups are ran off a fat32 drive like its wii u formatted?! I saw haxchi but I know about indexiine I have a 5.5.5 wii u firmware would it be possible to use indexiine for this??? I refuse to have a wii u formatted drive and be unable to use my external hard drive for emulation :P
EDIT: Asking because I am scared of breaking my wii u since theres practically no coming back after that

EDIT2: This might be rednand I'm not sure
EDIT3: since I have now been having issues with usb loader gx and struggling to get mocha fat32 working I'll just use wii U format I guess I can always load roms from sd card but I did not want to do this :(

The CFW mocha fat32 is still experimental and as i know it has very slow transfer rates. If it works, its just fine.

If a WiiU browser is used for the hax then its just a temporay exploid/hack to run mocha. They use http://u.wiidb.de/ which to use is explained here or they use http://wiiuexploit.xyz/ . The browser hax works on 5.5.5.

Indexiine is just a offline mod to run the exploid in browser without internet connection. It will automatically launch the browser exploid in about 10 seconds when the browser is opened and returns then to homebrew launcher. Indexiine needs higher firmware then 5.5.2 and works safe on 5.5.4, so try it out if its not patched.

CBHC gives also the ability to run mocha fat32 manually over the boot menu by holding home button. Maybe there exist a solution to autoboot into mocha fat32, but not sure atm. Maybe its also possible with Tiramisu.

Why`? Just do it?!
when you format your drive to wii u format you are forced to only play wii u and any vc games and gamecube through teconmoon what if I want to use it with emulators like WIISXR? Most of the games I'd play on said hard drive aren't wii u games so why should I format it :/

I have tried it but it just stays on a black screen probably because mocha cfw is integrated into tiramisu

Also whats shown in the video I linked gives the same features as a wii u formatted drive without formatting it and also giving me the freedom to use the hard drive for and on anything its the best option though

Yes it is. Check this thread on github as he had the same problem and solved it using Tiramisu with mocha fat32.
That did it! Thanks so much for your help. For anyone else who wants to know how to do this, here is my SD card layout:

SD/
├─ wiiu/
│ ├─ apps/
│ │ ├─ homebrew_launcher/
│ │ │ ├─ homebrew_launcher.elf
│ │ │ ├─ icon.png
│ │ │ ├─ meta.xml
│ │ ├─ mocha_fat32/
│ │ │ ├─ mocha.elf
│ │ │ ├─ icon.png
│ │ │ ├─ meta.xml
│ │ ├─ PayloadLoaderInstaller.wuhb
│ ├─ environments/
│ │ ├─ installer/
│ │ ├─ tiramisu/
│ ├─ payloads/
│ │ ├─ default/
│ │ │ ├─ payload.elf (tiramisu)
│ │ ├─ homebrew/
│ │ │ ├─ payload.elf (HomebrewLauncherInstaller)
│ │ ├─ nanddumper/
│ │ │ ├─ payload.elf (nanddumper)
│ ├─ payload.elf (PayloadLoader)
│ ├─ payload.rpx
│ ├─ root.rpx

And here is my USB layout:

USB/
├─ Install/
│ ├─ Channel1/
│ ├─ Channel2/
├─ wiiu/
│ ├─ apps/
│ │ ├─ homebrew_launcher/
│ │ │ ├─ homebrew_launcher.elf

│ │ │ ├─ wup_installer_gx2.elf
│ │ │ ├─ icon.png
│ │ │ ├─ meta.xml
│ ├─ payload.elf (HomebrewLauncherInstaller)

The goal here is to configure Tiramisu as the default payload and then manually launch Homebrew without it when we need to run Mocha FAT32. That is why the SD card has a Tiramisu setup (in the default folder) and the USB drive has a standard Homebrew installation.

To install channels using this system:
  • Disable Tiramisu's autoboot by following these instructions
  • Reboot the console
  • Execute the web exploit at wiiuexploit.xyz while holding down B
    • You must hold down B or else Tiramisu will boot. If this happens, reboot the system.
  • Select homebrew from the menu that pops up
    • This will run Homebrew without Tiramisu
  • Launch Mocha FAT32 via the Homebrew Launcher. The console will reboot
  • Execute the web exploit again.
    • You do not need to hold down B since this is running off the USB
  • Launch WUP Installer GX2 via the Homebrew Launcher
  • Install the channels you want from your USB drive
  • Re-enable Tiramisu's autoboot if you wish

so the same website for tiramisu can also be used for online loading thats actually pretty impressive sadly I have found out that its incredibly tedious to use and I think it makes your external hard drive act like its an sd card so not sure how wup installer gx2 is gonna turn out.

Ya, thats what i know told by other Members. Using mocha fat 32 makes the drive speed incredible slow. Maybe you can write us how it acts at you when you finally setup everything for use.

I know how pointless it sounds just not gonna get an external hard drive for just wii u games along with vc

I think the real reason this issue happens is that this is not that different from what people did years ago to load games from sd card
Evidence shows:

I will respond as soon as I get it set up don't worry :D

Dont miss understand, we all would be happy if this would work flawless. Some guys are still working on it to make it happen. But at the moment its somekind of pointless, its exerimental and not recommended. So using two drives at the moment is still much simpler.

thats why its uncommon to find any posts mentioning this (I thought people gave up on mocha fat32 guess I was wrong)

On an unrelated note do I have to use wiiuexploit.xyz because I tried enabling + disabling autoboot yet it won't work when I hold B
any other website that lets you open homebrew apps should work?

when it says select payload that means I did it wrong right?

Update: I have managed to get mocha cfw fat32 working but trying to load the homebrew launcher with the web exploit after enabling mocha cfw fat32 just gives an error saying the payload file in vol/external/wiiu can't be found despite how it actually is there

Mocha fat32 is a cfw. Why you are trying to run a Browser exploid to run mocha, if you are already running it?

I meant using the web exploit to then use wup installer gx2 and also to test loadiine gx2
the homebrew launcher wup installed on my nand doesn't work either

should I update to 5.5.6 and then try the same thing again?

How do you know mocha fat32 is running?
Try the other way around, run the browser exploid and then run mocha fat32. Like already explained previous in this thread -> here.

I know its running because I saw a screen saying mocha cfw then booting back to the wii u menu with it saying a hard drive was connected

???? If you launch the Webexploid to run the homebrew launcher to launch mocha fat32, the homebrew launcher works. So you should be able after launching the cfw mocha fat32 to enter the homebrew launcher again without any exploid. But you can try and clear the brower cache before.

And i dont know if there might be some problems with mocha fat32 e.g. running some homebrew.

the error says /vol/external01/wiiu/payload.elf is missing despite how I have the payload.elf on my External HDD
edit: Because I've made this unclear the homebrew launcher does work but after enabling mocha cfw will not

I'm late but there is an experimental version of mocha that makes a fat32 hard drive act like an sd card which allows you to use loadiine gx2 with a usb drive
Why are you telling this here when you dont get it first run by yourself?

just because I can't get it to work doesn't mean someone else can't

I've tried to use the wup version of the homebrew launcher but no apps show up at all despite having them on my external drive
