The authoritarian leader and regime took the next step in censoring and prosecuting the LGBT community and banning any media that portrays its members in a positive view. This law fines both authors and publishers as it does consumers who would have to pay a heavy fine if caught effectively consuming the media. Consumers may pay up to 400,000 rubles and companies up to 5 millions per violation. The law was passed December 5th.
Although the law isn't specific, a prior list has been brought up by Yana Lantratova and discussed by the government that includes the following videogames:
Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Assassin's Creed: Rogue, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Borderlands, Circuits Edge, Divinity: Original Sin 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Life Is Strange, The Last of Us, The Last of Us: Part 2, Fallout, Apex Legends, Moonmist, RimWorld, The Sims 3, Overwatch and more.
Other forms of media are still speculated on the exact pieces affected but given the broad definition of the law it can be used against every work portraying LGBT people in a non negative way at all.
