Xbox and Nintendo enter 10-year deal to bring Call of Duty games back to Nintendo systems

The Microsoft-Activision merger hasn't happened quite yet, but Microsoft is making plans presuming that the deal will go through eventually. CEO Phil Spencer has announced that Microsoft and Nintendo have entered into a 10-year-long deal, which will see the Call of Duty franchise brought to Nintendo's platform. This would mark the first time the series has returned to Nintendo systems since 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts, which was released for the Nintendo Wii U.

Microsoft has offered the same deal to PlayStation as well, who at the time of writing has not accepted, all while antitrust and government regulators continue to go back and forth over whether or not the finalized acquisition of Activision would be fair to the market. Previously, Microsoft has been incredibly vocal about not making Call of Duty into an Xbox exclusive franchise. Spencer also revealed that Call of Duty games will continue to release simultaneously on Steam for PC players, assuming that the deal goes through.

you don't want the "last gen" version of black ops 3, it looks like a low effort mod for world at war and runs terribly
I know all about last gen bo3. They could do it better if they gave 1/8th a fuck about it. I don't expect them to do that one, but I hope they do and do it right

Just turn the Switch into one big Space Force recruitment tool. Bring C.O.D. Advanced Warfare over and keep making sequels to that game. It's already in the near future, has space ships and the same ol' Call of Duty gameplay.

There is plenty room to craft unique experiences based on Call of Duty for Nintendo. It’s a large enough franchise that a B or C team could craft a smaller, tighter package such as a zombies focused game or bringing a version of Warzone to Switch / it’s successor.

Sucks that the online isn't free anymore. Good times on cod MW3 on Wii back in 2011. Could not play it for 6 months, turn that Wii on and be online in less than a minute, free of charge.

This is great! Nintendo is picky, so obviously they are getting a great deal.

WiiU sales hurt it that’s why. No sense in making games for a console deemed dead by Nintendo themselves. The Switch brought new light and new respect for coming up with a cool new idea while also catering to handheld mode/console approach.
