Nintendo apologizes for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet performance problems, new patch released

sadsadasdas.png

When the review embargo for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet lifted, one of the biggest problems both critics and players had with the games was the performance issues. A little under two weeks have passed since then, and it looks like Game Freak is getting around to fixing some of them. A version 1.1.0 patch of the game has been released for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, bringing the first season of ranked battles to the games, as well as patching out select bugs. Included in the patch notes was also an apology from Nintendo, who stated that they are currently working on improvements to the games, in regard to performance problems.

We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games' performance. Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We take the feedback from players seriously and are working on improvements to the games.

Not really true. "Performance profiles" aka boost mode simply overclocks the CPU during load screens, has no effect on game performance.
Games do have official performance profiles in handheld mode where devs can choose between a GPU clocked at 307Mhz, 384Mhz, and 460Mhz, the final requiring special permission from Nintendo which Pokémon Scarlet and Violet uses. The GPU is clocked always at 768Mhz in docked mode. You are right about boost mode though, only allowed during loading screens and it maxes the CPU clock speed and minimizes the GPU speed.

You said the game's issues didn't bother you. Which is fine, and I know that enough people feel that way. Which is, in its own, fine.
But this kind of practices; releasing an unfinished or unpolished game; aren't. Anyone who buys these unfinished or unrefined games day one becomes part of the problem.
What incentive do big corporations have to produce high quality goods if the consumers eat up wathever's out the door the day it comes out?
We as the audience have to show that these corporations and companies need to make high quality content in order for us to buy them. If we keep buying shitty reskins (like some sports games), unplayable games (like some shooters) and unfinished projects (like this mess), we are giving them the power to keep on releasing undercooked products!
There's nothing wrong in enjoying these games in these states of disrepair, but it's important to see both sides too.
Yes, there is a fun games below the glitchy crust. But also, there are issues that NO ONE should ignore. Through hacking and emulation, yes the game will run X or Y compared to on a day one Switch or an OLED, but the general audience and playerbase has a basic setup of a regular Switch/OLED and will likely play it as is.
As is, many players have many stories to tell, from an amusing glitchfest to a boring mediocre experience to an unforgettable memory of the best thing since sliced bread: everyone seems to have different things to say.
But the majority has had issues.
Thus, you not having any makes you the exception. And then going on about "This will make me reconsider future purchases" at the same time that you bought this game in this state.
The absolute state of the Pokémon fanbase.

Leafgreen ran great on a GBA but it had one major issue; no way to get or use Jhotto Pokémon. So no Crobat, no Espeon or Umbreon and so on. Which is lame if your favorite was one of those. And don't get me started on how to add back the missing Pokémon, man. The game's great if all you wanna do is play through Kanto again, though, and it's perfect at that.
You seem well informed!
Yeah if we keep buying these games at a more Half-baked state, Then they'll get worse over time, Problem is I think the advertising! Too effective!

I just Watched the trailer trying to get a feel for what they think this Pokemon generation is,
I felt like it presents itself as discovering a new world, only problem is the world didn't look populated, or alive!
At least when I watch my brother play that is!

Also, on game issues not bothering people, It completely throws me out of a games experience if the frames drop suddenly!

pr is a strongsuit of yours, not gonna lie.

however, a game should be coming out of the box like gold. Live A Live and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 both came out this year. they were both polished product. they were both labors of absolute love which were given the appropriate amount of time in their respective ovens. they were both switch exclusive RPGs. they were passed up for by this absolute fucking trash which was the result of a series of executives believing the very same thing i believe: you can slap the brand recognition onto any single product, and it won't matter the quality of which it comes out so long as it's put out to market within the right time period: before christmas.

they did it. they sold 10 million copies in 3 days. this is better than the lifetime sales of any pokemon game to date, and the best performance a console exclusive game has ever done in history. and what did they do for it? the absolute bare minimum. meanwhile, the people who develop better, higher quality product didn't even get the same time of day. why? brand recognition and ignorant consumers.

they don't care about the quality of the given product; what they care about most is just seeing that "pokemon" name and that "official nintendo seal" across the product's boxing. after that? fuck whatever happens. you can create the laziest animation cycles which can't even match up to pokemon stadium, which was released in the year 2000 as a late-entry N64 title. you can have textures clip out or glitch out in the world's most intensive ways. you can have the game crash. you can have the pokemon tween across the screen rather than actually animate their movements.

you can get away with anything, because the customers are ignorant, brain-damaged, prone-to-trend morons who gave life to the vapidness and low quality effort of pop music, of reality television, of 24 hour news cycles, of twitter, of facebook, and all else which is the very definition of kitsch.

the people at The Pokemon Company believe it. i believe it. they managed to capture their audience. they barely apologized for any of this. so, in the end, they got your money and they're gonna do the same thing again, because the customers are the stupidest lemmings you'll ever come across.

and the biggest morons of all? the people who believe nintendo are even remotely sorry for this.
Just gonna throw this out, If you believe your words to be true then I dare you to interview these people who made this Pokemon, get to the bottom of it for all of the ignorant people. I don't think they stopped caring, You just can't make money in the long run not caring about what you release.

At the very least you'd lose my trust.
(also I think your post just feels a little too sad! That reality you present just sucks frankly. I don't wanna believe in this.)

Yep. Can't even trust Nintendo-branded games to play without a damn patch/update.

If enough people get tired of patches/updates, then they may just go to play older games. I personally don't care too much about graphics as long as they look good and the performance is stable or decent, so I'm happy with PS2/GCN/Wii/Xbox 360 games.

SNES graphics still look artistically beautiful, too.

I honestly find myself playing old games a lot more than newer titles these days anyways.

I appreciate gaming. I of course have my contemporary consoles and play new titles all the time but the majority of my time gaming is spent playing "classics".

Even flawed games seem have more charm... You can tell someone really cared and passion is less common and/or harder to notice in newer games.

There's so much I've yet to play so maybe I can stretch things out until the industry licks their wounds...... Of until I die lol

This is good for anyone with an IQ over current room temperature. This would mean by the time the game has a 20,30% discount it probably will run better than it is now.

I don't think anyone argued that. The point is that such updates are coming in too slow, and are paired with incomprehensible design decisions.

Cool down and take your meds.

Yes a lot is as you say.
A lot of people are prone-to-trend, and listening to shitty pop music that all sound the same and playing mainstream games based on reputation rather than actual quality.
It's probably because their real interests lies elsewhere and that's ok. Everyone is unique (Not only you)

If they are happy with listening to whatever they play on the radio or playing titles that are based on their favourite superhero. Then that's fine.. Doesn't really make the good content go away.

You sound like me back when I was 17 years old listened to black metal and was interested in Satanism. The world is not all that bad and depressing as the picture you paint.

There's still plenty of people appreciating great games, and there's plenty of developers out there that loves creating awesome games.
But unfortunately there's also more executives that only care about money.

Fortunately they can get a wakeup call and realise that reputation is something you need to work to keep.

Nintendo doesn't discount their Switch games that much, they did with the N64, GC, Wii, WiiU and every other portable one. It seems like the Switch just sells well enough that even GBC games remade with little to no added content seem to be worth 60 USD.
Even Sony has the decency to sell remakes of ancient games at half price.

Now is a great time to get into any of the previous iterations of Pokemon, if you are into the 2nd hand market.

What's the current consensus on how the latest update fixes the issues?

Waiting for that 3rd Pokémon version if it ever comes out.. *as no patch will fix this*
there was no thrid x and y, there was no third sword and shield, i think gamefreak dropped the third version altogether, now they make a season dlc patch and sell it like that.

Ah yes the corporate dick sucking.... Nintendo has been releasing Pokemon games that are really DogShit in preformance, Im pointing out that they COULD tune it down. NTM i was talking about this shit update, all they fucking did was patch out some dupes people did. What they need to do is fix this shit performance game, Multiplayer is also pretty shit in preformance if you want a idea
