Mario Kart 8 Ultimate alpha is here. In this new modpack, you get 104 additional courses plus all your base Mario Kart 8 courses. Made for real hardware, US copies of the game, Can be alterred easily to run on Eur copies and in CEMU. The included readme should answer just about any question you have. A full video showcase is in the works, but for now just enjoy the small video showing the full course selection menu, and then if you want it, hit that download button below it!

Download Mario Kart 8 Ultimate alpha

Also, for those using this for the Eur copy of the game, not only should you follow the readme in regard to renaming a few folders, but also, you should download and extract the .zip file attached to this post and put it in the root of your SD card, after you had already extracted the game and followed the instructions of it's readme to get it to work with Eur copies of the game.

Now, don't go expecting this tomorrow or anything like that. There is a lot that still needs to be done before this is in a decent state to share. Lots of things just hinge on when progress to the CTGP-CafeLoader occurs. I can work with the framework here, but I can't create the framework here lol. We're waiting on the ability to put music over the additional courses, right now they're all silent aside from the original courses, we're also waiting on the ability to put custom map objects in the game, because as things stand now, while the custom courses will play without much issue, many map objects have been altered making some of the vanilla courses to look strange or straight up crash the game. When that does become an available option, I do not look forward to the headache I'll have of having to go back over every custom course and finding which had map object changes and then altering them to be their own thing for each map that has them.

And there are other little issues here and there: lots of courses don't have maps, the changes to textures and models to in race items can't be implemented yet or the game will crash. But these are not the pressing issues that map objects especially are, or even course music.

For now, just be patient and enjoy my older available modpack. The nice thing about the ctgp-cafeloader layout is that this will change from 6 separate modpacks to just 2, One with all the original MK8 characters, and one with the many changed characters that were available in the modpack I had dubbed Invitational. But we wont need a separate Battle modpack, as now we can separate the battle maps without affecting the race maps, and in fact have more of them as well, as things stand the battle maps total 16: the 8 from MK8 Wii U, and the 8 from MK8 Deluxe. Hopefully my next update wont be a long time, but for now when that will be is out of my hands, as I'm essentially just waiting for progress with cafeloader to occur.

ORIGINAL POST with the original 6 modpack suite:

Download link is in the video's description. This took quite a while to put together, but I'm very happy with the end results, check it out, I think it's really cool.

wait what? how is this possible?

Any help on this? I've searched and can't find anything on this issue. Wii U is running the latest NA firmware, fresh Tiramisu install, using a physical disc that is updated to the latest version and downloaded the modpack and plugin loader and believe I installed exactly as instructed to from the setup doc. Please help thanks!

Only difference I know based on your description is that I use a digital copy of the game. I don't think that's necessary, but I can't say if it works for sure with the Disc version or not.

Complete Cemu noob here. How do I use this with Cemu? Just copy everything from vol/[ID]/content into the content folder of my MK8 rip in Cemu?
If yes, what about the other folder next to vol, that contains Patches.hax and so on?

Edit: Did just that (overwriting the content directory) and now a few things seem to have worked but not all. For example the title screen now says "Ultimate" and a few (baby) drivers and vehicles have new skins but the new cups are definitely not there and pressing L or R does nothing.
Do I have to clear all base cups first? (Fresh savegame here).

Honestly I'm not going to be of much help when addressing CEMU related questions. Clearing all the base cups shouldn't be required.

Your instructions for using the mod with European versions of the game are incomplete. On top of renaming /content/ui/ue to /content/ui/ee, the race.szs file under /content/ui/ee/ needs additional modifications to rename the contained .bflim files. Otherwise the race UI has graphical glitches. To fix this on my local copy I opened race.szs from one of the mod folders with Switch Toolbox and then replaced _ue with _ee in the filename of each .bflim file under the timg folder. I then saved this off and copied the new race.szs file to /content/ui/ee for each mod folder.

I think the easiest way to make this mod accessible for both USA and European players of the game would be just to have both /content/ui/ue and /content/ui/ee coexist in the mod pack.

honestly the easiest way would be for everyone to just download the US copy of the game and play on real hardware, and save everybody some headaches. Though, other regions and CEMU are entirely possible, but I'm not going to apologize for the fact that I'm not catering to them specifically at the same time. The ability to make it happen on setups that I was never working with is entirely possible, that's all that really matters.

Fair enough. I am not on CEMU though, I'm playing off an original European Wii U Console and I own the European version of the game. Im willing to release an EU variant when I get some time (with your permission?) if you have no appetite to update the original Modpack yourself.

Hate to break it to you, but I had long ago already provided the Eur race.szs with all the .bflim files appropriately renamed, attached to the very first post with the proper folder structure... I'm guessing you didn't read the whole first post and in your haste, you had missed that, as it is a separate much smaller download.

I didn't read it :). I came directly from the youtube video and was following the contained instructions in the download. I only came across the GBAtemp page later on to make this post to try an help fellow Europeans. Apologies.

Does still nobody have any Cemu instructions? I would love to enjoy this on the Steam Deck so much.
Got it running on my Wii U already, but the Deck is another cup of tea.

Did I not post the directions somewhere in this thread? I definitely put it in the YouTube comments months ago. Please note, these aren't my instructions, someone on the old CTGP-cafe discord had figured this out:

All you need to do to get this to work on Cemu is:
1. Install and enable CTGP Cafe
2. Download and extract MK8 Ultimate
3. Navigate to cemu\graphicPacks\Mario Kart 8\Mods and create a folder called Ultimate
4. Inside Ultimate create a file called rules.txt and give it the following contents
[Definition]
titleIds = 000500001010ec00,000500001010ed00,000500001010eb00
name = Mario Kart 8 Ultimate
path = "Mario Kart 8/Mods/Ultimate"
description = Enables custom UI and 104 custom tracks
version = 3
5. Move the content folder from Mario Kart 8 Ultimate\mk8uloader\vol\000500001010EC00 to your graphics pack
6. Now inside the content folder, cut the course folder and paste it in MK8's update folder
7. In Cemu, right click on MK8, click "Edit Graphics Packs" and enable "Ultimate"

People have said this works. So hopefully this gets the job done for you.

Nice, thanks! Will try this out soon!
Edit: So basically I install CTGP Cafe first and then your Ultimate mod on top. I'll try that.

Short additional question: What do you mean here by "MK8's update folder"?
I have MK8 including the recent update and DLCs merged into one folder (Loadiine/Cemu format folder containing code, content and meta) that is basically in my Cemu roms folder.
So I just cut the content folder (from your Ultimate mod) and paste it over this "all in one" MK8 rom folder, overwriting whatever already is in content?

Haha I have no idea, again, those aren't my directions, I don't use CEMU, I'm a bad person to ask further questions about CEMU to. All I know is that method can apparently work, beyond that I really don't know the specifics about the instructions at all.

Fair enough, still thank you!
Haven't had the time yet to tinker with your steps but will hopefully do soon on the Steam Deck.

    @Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.

    Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
